User170451 · 08/11/2024 20:52

This is the 2nd tret thread I’m starting (apologies) I’m finally gonna give it a go. Has anyone used either of these and if so which one did you prefer?
also I was given referral codes on my last thread and can’t seem to find them so if anyone wouldn’t mind sharing a code also please

I've used Dermatica for about 4 years now I'm very happy. I started at 0.025 then 0.05 which is the strength I prefer.

Feel free to use mine

I've tried both and prefer skin and me. Love the twisty dispenser that gives you the exact dose every time! The formula also feels more gentle, dermatica pushed my skin to far to quickly and I had to go cold turkey.

Promo code if you fancy trying it, thanks!

I haven't tried Dermatica, but I have seen that their starting dose for tretinoin is higher (0.015%, I think, vs skin + me at 0.006%). Depending on your attitude, that could be a pro or a con! I'm personally glad I started on the lower dose, as I had some irritation at the beginning, even on the super low dose, and my skin is usually hard as nails! Never had a reaction to anything before.

Skin and me - I used Dermatica first and it triggered pustula roseacea and god did I look awful. They were very unhelpful at this point. Skin and me were much better and hadn’t triggered anything this time.

This is interesting. I’ve never had an issue with sensitive skin either and before reading this was probably more looking for the strongest dose I could get the quickest. Will have to rethink that one

I've been using skin + me for two months for a tretinoin prescription. I'm very impressed by it's effectiveness! Progress photos on this thread: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5184326-tretinoin-0006-i-think-i-can-see-an-improvement-already-pic?page=1

Ah it’s really helpful to see progress pics. I can definitely see a difference, thank you

I'm on month 5 of Skin and me tret and niconimide perscription. I got bad purging (i think they call it) during first 2 months but after it passed its really made a difference and I'm really happy with it.

Here is my code if anyone is interested https://www.skinandme.com/?promocode=AMANDAL5H3V

Another vote for skin and me - it makes my skin dry but it's so worth it. To counter the dryness I moisturise around 10 minutes after using skin and me, and sometimes have the occasional day off. I also use a curel moisturising spray randomly if I need.

User170451 · 09/11/2024 15:17

I’m planning on ordering today and wanted to use it as soon as it arrived but have a night out planned for 2 weeks time. Is it best to wait maybe to start? Does it make your skin worse before it’s better?

I've used skin & me for around 18 months and the change is unbelievable. My skin can sometimes be sensitive so the slow approach with skin & me seemed suitable. I have never had any significant issues, even at the beginning. Occasional dry skin/ peeling only.

If you are concerned about your skin for a forthcoming event you could always be ultra careful and cleanse/ dry / moisturise / dry/ skin and me / dry/ moisturise. (So adding in a layer of moisturiser before in addition to after).

Like I said mine got quite bad, I actually think it was the niconimide rather than the tret as I've had the same reaction with niconimide before. But totally worth the 'breaking in' my skin is fab now.

I’ve used both skin&me and dermetica but currently use Uncouth which I think is the best of all three. Lasts for longer better formula and I have seen better results.

I’ve never heard of uncouth so that’s a new one to have a look at Thank you

I never had any purging or adverse effects when I started. Just occasionally had to make sure i had a rich moisturer as I would go a bit dry

I’ve been using skin and me for two months and I can’t see any difference to my skin. I’ve cancelled my subscription.
Im now using Elf holy hydration for everyday skincare

menohnopausal · 07/12/2024 19:07

@Oreosareawful that's a shame! Did your prescription include tretinoin? I'm still gobsmacked at how much better my skin is. I saw a significant improvement in the first couple of months, mostly in pore clarity, but also some wrinkle reduction. I think it might have plateaued over the last month or two. I'll try and take some more photos tonight to evaluate.

menohnopausal · 07/12/2024 19:08

@Ruthar that looks fancy! What are the ingredients? And what percentage tret is it?

menohnopausal · 07/12/2024 19:38

Here's the Nov/Dec comparison. Mebbe a wee bit of difference. Wish I could get the lighting the same each time!

I used dermatica for a few months a couple of years ago. The results were great but my skin was so dry. I also developed perioral dermatitis. The company wasn’t very helpful giving advice They stronger strengths came too fast and i found it a bit overwhelming.
i sipped using it but have been looking for something else. Recently i bought medik8 a retinal which I’m loving. It feels more gentle but is having an effect. Obviously it’s not a subscription.

Oops I thought this was "my" thread that I started a while back... Didn't mean to hijack with my pics 😆
