Heeled boots - keep or chuck?

MinaHarker1897 · 26/10/2024 14:03

I have a lot of these, heeled ankle boots. One pair look quite vintage, though they aren't, I bought them from Oasis but I have some fashion mags from 1975 and 1976 and there are similar ones in there so I am keeping those. But I have a lot of Chelsea boots with heels and apart from them being uncomfortable to walk in I sort of thought they are out of vogue now.

I have these and a lot of other pairs like them - about 8 pairs.

Keep or charity shop?

Could you keep 2 pairs and charity shop for the rest.

I know the mn party line is that noone ever wears heels anymore, but I'm seeing more and more women in heels of all types. However, if they aren't comfortable for you, get rid.

GlitteringUnicorn · 26/10/2024 14:40

I'm the same I have these Dune Paicey boots in 4 colours (!) admittedly bought over several years.
I can't work out whether to get rid or not.

I agree. I see heeled boots (not towering stilettos, but a block heel) pretty regularly.

Are all 8 pairs uncomfortable? I'd get rid of any that are, but any that are comfy and that you like, I'd keep.

I think heels are making a return, especially block heels. I’ve been wearing heeled knee boots again and I’d wear boots like that too, except I have several flat pairs that need to wear out before I buy more!

CarpeVitam · 26/10/2024 15:07

I love a block heel boot - I have these in the tan and black.

Fatface btw

Heels are very fashionable - I'm seeing more and more of them lately. Those clumpy, stompy boots and shoes have definitely had their day - at least where I live (South East).

Drivingoverlemons · 26/10/2024 15:14

I have a pair of brown suede block heels and a pair with a heel like the picture. I wear the latter every now and then. Sometimes it’s just nice to wear heels and boots don’t look too try hard. Flats are a bit boring all the time.

Winter is approaching, and this coupled with the fact I haven't worn heeled boots since the pandemic makes me think that it's time for heels again. In fact, have just been up to the loft to pull out a pair of old Prada black leather kitten heeled ankle boots.

henlake7 · 26/10/2024 15:17

I dont know why anybody would keep any shoes that are uncomfortable to walk in....kinda defeats the purpose!
But keep the ones you like def. Its a fairly classic style and if it isnt 'in' now it will probably come back around again soon.

clarrylove · 26/10/2024 15:18

Keep the heels. I wore a pair not dissimilar to that last night at a cocktail bar and I remembered how nice it was to be a bit taller for a change, made me feel less dumpy too.

I have some of these. That also sat around unworn for a while. We have just come out of winter, and I wore them a few times with wide leg jeans.

I need the height in the jeans and I thought they looked alright paired together. Granted I'm not the epitome of top fashion trends though.

So I'd keep.

growinguptobreakingdown · 26/10/2024 15:27

Chunky heeled boots and kitten heels are everywhere at the moment.DD17 wears some to 6th form and is into fashion. So maybe a cull as you have so many but don't get rid of entirely. I regret getting rid of so many items of clothing that came back several few years later. That seems to come round faster in fashion now.

BaronessBomburst · 26/10/2024 15:48

I'm currently trying to decide which to buy between these two, so I say keep!

Heels are definitely on their way back in!

Neveranynamesleft · 26/10/2024 17:25

What / why does it matter what anyone else thinks about your boots ?? If you like them and they are comfortable then wear them. Too expensive to give away just because someone else says they don't like them or they're not ' the latest fashion ' . Bonkers.

Keep. There are some similar currently on Zara website, they’re a knock off of the old Rag and Bone Newbury boots I reckon.

Might have just talked myself into buying them actually…Boots

Aoibheanni · 26/10/2024 17:52

Vinted all the way!

(I’m currently in the market for a pair of heeled boots, idgaf if heels aren’t the fashion any more)

I've just bought a pair 😂 Still got to get some decent wear out of all the flat, chunky ones but they weren't looking "right with everything" any more.

It all feels very much like it did around the millennium - flats usually best, heels have a place, but no stork legs thanks! That said, I've noticed more fashion pics featuring tiny skirts/shorts with tall, spindly shoes. I'll have to give that look a miss this time round, my age and feet won't hold up for it.

Keep your boots, @MinaHarker1897!

It's a tired line, probably peddled by people who could never walk in heels with little knowledge of what's in fashion.

Havalona · 26/10/2024 18:34

Lowish block heels are as far as I'll go now. No way am I tottering around on anything uncomfortable any more. I think wearing flats for years has ruined my ability to stand or walk in anything resembling a decent height heel.

I don't see the menz changing their shoe styles for heels so why should I?
