@bluegreygreen she looks gorgeous and very appropriate in that dress! What happened this week?

KillingMeDeftIy · 04/12/2024 19:11

I remember Birgitta! She wore fur and a jumpsuit to either Madeleine or CP's wedding!

banivani · 04/12/2024 19:18

Yes, a great personality! I’ve been looking for a good collection of photos but not found anything amazing yet

Maireas · 04/12/2024 19:40

She reminds me of that posh royal commentator, Ingrid Seward.

The description of her as being "forthright" is hilarious. One can just imagine and it looks like she was happy in Mallorca.

But an object lesson in the importance of sun protection for the fair skinned.

banivani · 04/12/2024 19:51

Swedish papers are saying she fell, broke her arm and died in hospital.
That was a good retrospective there @KillingMeDeftIy, nice find :)

justasking111 · 04/12/2024 19:57

She appeared to have lived her best life. Beautiful woman

Lunde · 04/12/2024 20:18

Princess Birgitta always looked like she would be great fun at a party. Her childhood must have been sad when her father, the Crown Prince, died in an air crash just a few days after her 10th birthday and made her brother Crown Prince at the age of 9 months.

She really wore the big tiaras well.

I don’t think this is Camilla’s most flattering outfit for a joint British- French literary event.
Meanwhile, Albert, Charlene and twins attended the inauguration of a £2b eco district on land reclaimed from the sea.
Re Kate’s outfit(s) for the state visit, the Mail reports that she changed from boots to shoes and from one berry coat dress to another.

Goodness, the Grimaldis are going down the mini me route.
That's not a great suit on Cams. Grey is a bit dull anyway. I like Brigitte's coat.

She reminds me of that posh royal commentator, Ingrid Seward.

She reminded me of Madge, the sun-worshipping granny who drove around the resort in her electric scooter, cigarette permanently in mouth (brilliantly played by Sheila Reid in the tv series Benidorm if that reference means nothing to you!). But I love that she was very much her own person, living the life that she chose. Apparently when she was younger the Shah of Iran had considered her a potential bride!

I feel for Carl Gustav and his sisters, it must be hard to lose the first of group of siblings.

I read that Kate wore a coat dress under her coat but surely not?

Papergirl1968 · 04/12/2024 22:28

According to the Mail eagle eyed royal
watchers spotted she had changed from boots to shoes, and then in the comments sone readers were saying the second berry coat dress was a bit more flared at the back.

Papergirl1968 · 04/12/2024 22:40

With boots was by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.
I can’t work out if she’s just discarded the slim fitting coat bit when she changed to shoes or if it’s a different outfit but it does look more flared.
And I’ve forgotten how to do links…

Kate was presumably wearing this dress (worn previously for a visit to St David’s church in Wales, with the same hat) under her McQueen coat, and so took the coat off and changed shoes once she got inside Buckingham Palace.

Papergirl1968 · 04/12/2024 23:05

I don’t know whether the dress looks too
lomg to be worn under the coat without being noticed.
The Mail readers reckon the coat dress is this one from her 2022 carol concert, which was believed to be by Eponine.
Dunno, I’m confused!

Papergirl1968 · 04/12/2024 23:07

The carol concert pic…

Serenster · 04/12/2024 23:12

Yes, the two photos we have posted are one and the same Eponine dress - she wore it to St David’s and for her carol concert, and now a third time to welcome the Qataris.

Looking at it, it is definitely fuller-skirted than the coat and looks longer too, so she may well have changed from coat to dress and boots to pumps as soon as she got to Buckingham Palaces. Because the outfits were the same shade, it has largely passed unnoticed!

bluegreygreen · 04/12/2024 18:13

Don't understand Kemi Badenoch's dress - she attended a previous state banquet in June so knows the appropriate dress code

She’s making what she thinks is a really cool point of not dressing modestly to a state banquet with Qatar.

bluegreygreen · 04/12/2024 23:58

I really hope not

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 05/12/2024 00:02

That really does not seem to be the sort of thing she would do. I'd imagine there's another explanation.

Serenster · 05/12/2024 00:26

Quoting my own post because, living up to her name, royalfashionpolice on instagram has found a photo that shows the curved hem of the Eponine dress underneath the McQueen coat when Kate ascended the steps to the dais. So she took the coat off, and changed shoes.
