Ah, apparently the tiara is Queen Elizabeth’s small aquamarine tiara (is there a large aquamarine tiara?) also known as the aquamarine ribbon tiara and previously worn a couple of times by Sophie.
Charles and William were both in knee breeches…no pics of William though.

Is that not William behind Charles and Camilla in the above picture? If so, he looks like he’s wearing trousers 🤷‍♀️😆

Alexandra of Hanover posted on instagram that she wore one of her grandmother’s suits to National Day and twitter sleuths have found a photo of Grace Kelly wearing the same suit. How lovely to have a couture wardrobe to fossick through…

Alexandra is quite the fashionista!

Here's Caroline and family as she presents the Order of Merit to Charlotte. I like Charlotte's suit. I assume she and Caroline are both wearing Chanel but you could've told me Caroline's dress was Me + Em and I'd have believed you!

Wow, I do love aquamarines. I think I prefer the smaller, more delicate tiara than the big blingy one..
William does indeed look like he is wearing trousers. Can’t say I blame him.

RomainingToBeSeen · 20/11/2024 12:57

Charlene looks fabulous in that evening dress and it works with the sash/order. I love her hair with the wave in it.

I was less keen on the lilac suit - unfortunately at first glance I thought the hairpiece resembled a breast pad and then I couldn't unsee it!

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 20/11/2024 13:21

Having been quite unimpressed with the idea of a tiara-sharing policy between the British Royals back when we first saw Sophie wear the lotus tiara (although I was very happy to see her finally wearing something really lovely!), I have to say I've now completely changed my mind!

They've obviously decided that something similar to what the Swedes do might be more interesting/fun/work best. I still think the Queen is likely to keep some pieces exclusively for her own use, which Silvia does too, if I'm not mistaken, and I hope Catherine will have at least 3 for her own use, but how nice it has been to see tiaras being worn by different women. I'd love to see more tiaras being shared this way - I really like seeing the way a piece looks from woman to woman.

RomainingToBeSeen · 20/11/2024 13:27

Completely agree @AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras

Now if only they could add a clause to the new policy to recommend that there is at least one tiara-worthy occasion each month. It doesn't have to be. State dinner - Anne could have added a lightweight one to her bridge-opening outfit yesterday just to ring the changes. 😊

AllTangledUpInTinselAndTiaras · 20/11/2024 13:30

Yes!! 😁

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 20/11/2024 13:59

I love Camilla's aquamarine necklace and I like the tiara though I wish it had a bit of decoration on the prongs at the front.

There's a picture of Charlene's lilac suit full length and in motion in this link. It's not attractive to my eyes:

The necklace and earrings are her own. I wonder if they are an inherited set or maybe a gift from the King.

IMO princesses and queens should wear tiaras ALL THE TIME.

Harassedevictee · 20/11/2024 20:56

I agree a policy requiring tiara’s at every opportunity is needed.

Having seen a full length of Charlene’s lilac suit I have revised my opinion. The short length with dark tights and shoes are a no from me.

Goodness. I remember those.
I'm glad she went.

Remembering all the victims of the Birmingham bombings. Sad
Not just those killed and injured. Their loved ones too and those unjustly charged with the bombings.

That's an interesting coat colour she chose.
It's a very similar colour to the Irish army officer coat colour.

Meanwhile Victoria looking the biz as she joins on marines on a training exercise.

She certainly does !!! Smile

Victoria really suits the army look. Like she knows exactly what she's doing and in complete control.

Queen Mary’s necklace: what the F does it mean?

KillingMeDeftIy · 26/11/2024 09:13

F for don't F up again??

DuchessOfPort · 26/11/2024 09:39

I like that Fred is sensibly letting her stand in front of him. She is the boss.

FGSWhatNow · 26/11/2024 12:19

Good article. This bit made me snigger: "Now it is true that the F could commemorate a recently deceased pet tortoise..."

I'm going with Killing's interpretation though!
