I know it's early!!!!!! But I've been invited to quite a fancy Xmas event and I always just feel like I look a bit basic....so planning ahead.

I'm quite petite, about 5'1 in height and kind of an inverted triangular shape. Generally slim

I am pretty certain neither of these posters work for Batsheva. They have different tastes, that's all.

Batsheva is not to my taste but neither are the shiny sequinned dresses suggested. That's ok.

There should be a rule on S and B that if you say someone else's dress is awful, you should be able to take criticism of your own pick without a long lecture on style.

I agree, it's fine not to heap false praise on styles you don't like, but some people have been proper nasty. I don't even think it's that bad?!

It's not to my taste. That's all I will say. Though I would wear a couple of the black dresses on Batsheva.

I think a little restraint on both sides of the Batsheva debate is good!🙂

It seems really hard to find a party dress that is non-sequinned, non-shiny. I am looking myself.

I reported it. It was a malicious accusation and if you thought that I worked for the company you should have reported it to MN.

This thread is entertaining and bizarre! It really goes to show that what counts as a gorgeous dress really is in the eye of the beholder.

OP, I hope you find your outfit.

Klements has beautiful, non sequin dresses. I've got 4 of their dresses. It's a brand that's mostly hated on here. In real life they get complimented every time I wear them.

Lentilweaver · 20/10/2024 10:02

I don't like Klements either. Am in that awkward stage of life where nothing seems to suit me ( and not because I think they only suit the size 8s). I will just keep looking.
I might look at velvet trouser suits. Some of those are shiny too.

Neither of us have said anything about being superior. Why do you feel so threatened by posts of dresses you don't like?

😘

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! Some really good ones! And for making this thread to unexpectedly entertaining. No hate on the Batsheva dress at all, but I think I'm gonna go for one of the velvetty ones! (Sorry, can't find the post)
