Expectation versus reality - again

Got my new glasses today, so excited!

Chunky frames, so cool looking when I tried them on 😀

But the effect it not quite what I was after - I'm basically Harriet the Spy (only in my 50s).

I'm not blonde and I'm not Naomi Watts either but this gives a good illustration of the outcome I think:

This pale pink puffer coat.

In my mind, something like the model. Understated chic in a slightly unusual color for a coat.

In reality it's more marshmallow-on-legs (or possibly a boiler with a marshmallow heat coating). DH is mostly tactful but clearly thinks I look ridiculous.

Still love it and wear it every winter, very warm.

One Hundred Stars robes.
Expectation: ethereal nymph, gliding through the garden with a mug of coffee, brushing my hand through bushes of lavender and verbena.
Reality: overstuffed sofa. I don't even have a garden, let alone a herb bed.

Oooo are they as straight forward as they seem? I just bought two expensive pairs of glasses, even though my last two pairs were last August. Bloody expensive but then I had to have the expensive ones.

I bought a blue check shirt dress for work. Looked lovely in the shop. When I got back home and put wore it I realised that I looked like my Nan who was a dinner lady from the 70s and always wore her nylon “housecoat” about the house - and not as lovely as I had hoped!

I am on the train to work and I have swapped to my previous glasses just for now...when I am safely absorbed into the seething massive of humanity known as the tube I will put the new ones on 😬

The thing that is really stupid about it it that I knew they were chunky, I just didn't realise till I got my pair how oversized they are 🤦🏻‍♀️
So I'm getting used to a look that wasn't what I was aiming for 🤣

I'm keeping it - so warm, and whenever I take it off the cat adopts it, so it must be good!

Ha. Been there too. Frilled dress. Expectation: edgy but feminine.
Reality: that spitty Jurassic Park dinosaur.
