I’m liking the scarf and blouse.

No I think I’ll give this a swerve. The colours are horrible and the slogans are really naff. My 18 and 20 year old dds would roll their eyes at those and say they’re too Millennial (the biggest insult among their generation it seems)

Zampa · 17/10/2024 21:11

@Octoberaddsagale I think the quality is good. The wool suiting felt like a cut above the usual. They've clearly spent money on the fabric (unlike the very disappointing Roksanda/Asda collaboration). The Nature jumper is so soft and snuggly.

Shopgirl1 · 17/10/2024 21:14

The blazer quality seems decent. I’m not too impressed with the cashmere and might end up returning the jumper I got. I have cashmere from Uniqlo that is much cheaper and seems better quality.

Octoberaddsagale · 17/10/2024 21:22

Thank you, @Zampa and @Shopgirl1 for your comments on the quality of the fabric.

If I had legs that long and slim, I'd be showing them off. Slagging off M& S is what happens on MN.

I like M &S.

It's mainly sold out, so too late anyway. The colours are black and blue and red... Other than possibly the yellow cricket jumper, they're really inoffensive.

Why do people post on this forum that their teenage children wouldn't like something? I really don't care what an 18 year old likes, I'd bet money I wouldn't like all her outfits (as it should be tbh). I'm proud to be a millennial and will dress accordingly. Although I'd class Bella Freud as more gen X- style, most people who had the 1970 jumper seemed to be 45+.

moiraswigs · 17/10/2024 22:04

I bought the nature jumper in navy in store and it seems really nice quality, thick and soft.

I also bought the tote, but online. I wanted to try the jeans but they went out of stock in short and they didn't have any instore.

ValsCupcakes · 18/10/2024 11:51

Nearly all the jumpers are not showing on the M&S site now

starfleet · 18/10/2024 12:14

I only remembered to look when a friend sent me a link as I do have a bit of a thing for Bella Freud jumpers. Mainly the 1970 ones as it's the year I was born...most of my stuff is years old and bought in the sales.

Have a couple of the recent oversize chunky knit ones, but they are a bit boxy and not really oversized.

Nothing really appealed in the M&S collab apart from the blue silk shirt but that sold out in my size.

This was either £69 or £79 online yesterday - I tried to buy one.

There's a Nature jumper on Vinted for £300... and 57 people are watching it.

Nuts. They’re not THAT nice.

RichTea90 · 18/10/2024 12:50

I do like the cricket jumper though. I’m not a big fan of slogans or text on jumpers. I think it looks naff. The original Bella Freud jumpers with 1970 are ok but I think they look a bit dated now. Like they’re done. Agree with PP that they are very gen-X.

I wonder what the returns rate will be.

Things might start reappearing on the website in a week or so.

I think this is why the vinted items have so many watchers, to see if they can resell at such a high price too!

Petrine · 18/10/2024 13:48

Jumpers with words on them only look ok on those under 10 years old in my opinion.

Floisme · 18/10/2024 14:19

I picked up the pinstripe blazer this morning, tried it on and I'm still wearing it so I think it's a keeper. It has the vibe of a men's suit jacket except that it fits me - something I've been trying to find for several years. (I've got a bin bag full of second hand ones that I tried to alter and butchered in the process.)

I wouldn't describe it as oversize but it is long and lean in shape which I'm sure won't please everyone so I expect there will be some returns, just not from me.

Extra marks for the inside pocket.

The fabric looks pretty decent for the price although I won't really know until I've worn it a few times. I'd have preferred a higher wool content (this is 40%) but that would have cost quite a lot more - this is already an unplanned purchase and I'll have to juggle my budget to fit it in.

ANagsHead · 18/10/2024 15:24

Ah, @Floisme - I love that feeling of not wanting to take something off when you try it on! So I wish you joy in the wearing and owning of your jacket.

I must admit, if I’d been born in 1970 I’d probably have wanted one of the jumpers too, despite not really being a BF fan.

Noeggsontoast · 18/10/2024 15:56

@Floisme glad you love your jacket, I loved it too but sadly needed a smaller size, so returned. Also returned the trousers, silk blouse and nature jumper. The nature jumper was just too heavy on my frame and is sized down.

For me the surprise item was the jeans, love the fit of them. I also kept the honey cashmere jumper in camel, the merino blue sky jumper in black and the divine roll neck in grey. The honey cashmere is a great deal softer than the divine roll neck.

Floisme · 18/10/2024 16:36

Thank you @ANagsHead I've spent a long time looking for the right blazer, trying imposters and generally whittling about it on the Parisienne thread - I must let them know I've found one, although I can't shake off the feeling that I'm going to discover some massive flaw Grin

Sorry it didn't work for you @Noeggsontoast If I'd gone by their measurement guide, I'd have ordered the next size up which would have been way too big, but I just had a hunch they would run large. As it is, the sleeves are slightly long but I don't mind that and I can alter them anyway. I'm glad you've had some successes!

Summerdew · 18/10/2024 18:26

Just picked up my parcel. I got a couple of the bags and the jeans. Keeping it all, the red of the bag is much nicer than it looked online, really nice sturdy construction and very roomy, great for a beach bag.
The jeans are amazing and I wish I’d got two pairs. I’d say they are mid rise, very minimal stretch (if any) so they feel tighter than my normal jeans but the cut is amazing on, I absolutely love them. Also a nice touch (although I’ve been scorned on here for saying something similar before) each item packed nicely in its own paper envelope so felt more exciting opening them. I’m delighted and hope the jeans are restocked (I’m 5’7 and regular is a perfect length).
Wishing I’d bought the blazer now too after hearing your thoughts @Floisme , sounds lovely and I’m glad you finally got one you’re delighted with!

usernother · 18/10/2024 18:27

No, because it's far too expensive for the likes of me. Pity.

Shopgirl1 · 18/10/2024 20:07

Looks to be some returns online already….but not what I want ☹️

Onand · 18/10/2024 20:18

It’s a very dated frumpy mumsy collection, but then again that is the demographic it’s been marketed towards so it’s not really a surprise. The slogans are very cringey, especially when 10,000 others will be wearing the same one.

Big swerve is my advice.
