Best place to get decent priced jeans that aren't going to make me cry

As in the size 12s are actually size 8 and I need a size 16.

I'm 38 and haven't worn jeans in 10 years but I've lost weight and feel ready to try again but remember the trauma they gave me!

Well done! I’ve lost weight and got some Sienna jeans from m and s in a size 10. I was previously 15 (next do that size) then managed to get in my old 30 inch Levi’s so I know the m and s ones are accurate.

I definitely second the Sienna jeans they're fab they are the only jeans I wear. They're around £25.

Also have the sienna and harper from m and s, I need to size down in them.

crackofdoom · 08/10/2024 08:45

I've just got a couple of decent, reasonably flattering pairs from Primark. Cheap as chips at £14 each, and the denim's pretty good quality.

Let's just say the sizing is....generous and flattering 🤔

Really? I remember primark being one of the ones I couldn't get a leg into!

My favourite jeans are from next. No lycra, and keep their shape.

Saisong · 08/10/2024 08:52

Another Sienna wearer here. I have 3 pairs on rotation!

dancingqueen345 · 08/10/2024 08:56

Pricy but the Abercrombie jeans are fantastic

whatisforteamum · 08/10/2024 08:59

Always Next.
Different length s and do in between sizes.

Crojo · 08/10/2024 09:00

I find most supermarket jeans are actually quite good. Tesco and Sainsbury's sizing is usually ok, Asda are usually on the generous side.
My favourite jeans are Next and New Look. Both good quality and the sizing is usually accurate (occasionally generous in Next.)
Primark sizing and quality can be hit and miss, I've had some decent denim from there but also some flimsy stretchy denim that loses shape. I find they usually come up on the small side!

I'm a size 12 on a good day, which are the only days my Sainsbury's jeans (12) don't feel too tight. These Primark size 12s feel mega comfy and roomy.

starsinyourpies · 08/10/2024 09:04

Definitely M&S!

MissyB1 · 08/10/2024 09:05

Yes either M&S or Next. Although M&S sizing can be a bit hit and miss, I'm going there for jeans today and plan to try on 2 or 3 different sizes.

biglipslittlehips · 08/10/2024 09:08

Isn't this the opposite of vanity sizing? Surely what generally happens is what is labelled a 10 is what used to be a 14 not the other what station? Around.

Old school 14s are tiny compared to now

Bectoria2006 · 08/10/2024 09:13

I really like New Look jeans. True to size, lots of different styles and decent price.

I think I'll wait till I'm at goal weight and maintaining before I splash out

I'm another M & S fan for jeans - Sienna and Harper usually. I find them true to size.

FlyingontheGround · 08/10/2024 09:15

Next or FatFace, I find quite true to size.

Well like I said it probably, counting properly, 15 years since I tried jeans on so maybe it's different now?

I find M & S come up large.

Changingplace · 08/10/2024 09:20

If you book a free John Lewis personal styling appointment you can ask them just to find you jeans and they have loads of brands in store. I did it last time I needed jeans and it’s brilliant because they know how all the different brands fit and bring you the best ones for your shape.

They're not pushy and you’re not obligated to buy anything but they’ll email you a list of the things you like at the end too so you can go back anytime.

Don't say that! I'm so proud of my size 14 M&S jeans.

Chocolateteabag · 08/10/2024 09:34

I'd second @crackofdoom - I used to firm Primark sized small but the last 2 pairs I've had are a 10 and a 12 and both are roomy
I'm a 12 (10 in M&S)

It's the balloon/baggy/mom styles I have from Primark

I'm not sure they would suit me as I still have a big tum!
