What makes you smell nice

OK, I dabble in perfume and body spray (Calvin Klein Eternity, body shop jasmine type things). But I don't wear much routinely. I would like to smell fragrant - either fresh and citrusy or calm like Rose or something. Some kind of body spray, perfume or essential oil. What do you use, how often do you reapply, does it stay fragrant?

I use Le Labo matcha and only apply it once

Foxybyname · 05/10/2024 18:54

I've been wearing Narcisco Rodriguez for years. Always, always get asked what it is.
(In a good way!)

Runskiyoga · 05/10/2024 19:08

Those both have excellent reviews, thank you, would love to have people notice a perfume

Champneys Calm Body Balm smells amazing on my skin for hours and hours. I use it after every bath or shower.

I wear perfume every day (eau du parfum, not toilette) just applied once a day in the morning but I always seem to get asked what perfume I'm wearing and complemented when I'm wearing La Vie Est Belle.

Oh and roll on deodorant seems to last much longer on me than the spray type!

Runskiyoga · 05/10/2024 19:32

That champneys body balm is one for the Christmas stocking list, sounds lovely!

I like Lush 'Dirty' body spray for day to day use - smells fresh and a bit minty. People have often said it smells nice when I'm wearing it.

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt. AKT orange grove deodorant. Tom Ford Portofino Neroli.

I didn’t note down what they were but our local Harvey Nics has some gorgeous less well known (to me at least) perfume brands.

Aww I love the JM wood sage and sea salt! My husband was gifted the tom ford and didn't wear it, i love it! I will look up the AKT just now. X

Hmm, I wonder if the Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt in the body creme would work? Could carry and refresh I imagine. These are great thank you

I love Chloe Rose tangerine, it's a springy scent. I used to wear YSL Elle and got lots of comments but it's hard to get now. X

I like Cloud by Ariana Grande and often get told I smell nice when I wear it. I usually apply it once in the morning but I did buy the matching body spray so sometimes I apply that later on in the day if I feel I need a boost. I like to spray fragrance on my hair as I feel like my hair really absorbs smells for some reason!

Runskiyoga · 05/10/2024 19:55

That AKT looks amazing

I should definitely try the hair thing, my hair is super thick and might at last serve me some purpose

All the descriptions sound so good, but I know I need to go smell them. The Chloe Rose Tangerine sounds lovely, thanks nippy

I am keen on body sprays as lighter, but the idea of having a perfume and body spray that match is making sense of to me now

I love this too! Minty (but different from mouthwash, lol).

'An arresting and downright filthy blend of sultry sandalwood, spicy tarragon, and invigorating spearmint for when you crave a little freshness. Breezy outdoor notes combine on the skin in a sultry liaison of thyme and lavender. The aforementioned sandalwood brings a smoky, lived-in quality to entangle the senses.' that's the description of the lush dirty

Oo I love being told I smell nice - it's my fave compliment!

I find using a complimentary routine helps - I try to make sure my body wash I use in the shower in the morning goes well with my moisturiser and perfume, then I find it lasts much much longer than just the perfume alone!

I'm a huge fan of hair mists too, especially for a refresh when out and about that's a bit lighter than a perfume, especially if you wear your hair down like I do 99% of the time, it sort of wafts around you and smells amazing!

Jo Malone, Le Labo and Tom Ford are my most complimented perfumes - they're all expensive but I find they last 10x longer and when I match with all of the body products I smell good all day!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 05/10/2024 20:10

TCP here, everyone notices me a mile off, and it seems to keep wasps and mosquitos away.

Mind you, everything I eat seems to taste like TCP smells, which is a bit disappointing as I used to enjoy a jam doughnut with my morning coffee, now I might as well suck a Elastoplast fabric plaster.😪

YouBelongWithMe · 05/10/2024 20:12

I use Rituals hair and body oil spritzed onto my hands and run through my hair. People always notice and even I catch a whiff of it through the day.

Runskiyoga · 05/10/2024 20:13

I feel like layering is definitely coming through as a key point here. And surely smelling nice ought to be achievable with a nice combo and a good routine (compared to other harder things for me like looking presentable)

I use Mehr. It's quite citrusy and fresh.
