Nice waterproof coat with proper hood

Hello!

I am after a properly waterproof coat, knee length or below (I secretly love rugby coach duvet coats), with an actually functional large hood that will fit over headphones. Over the ear headphones that is. I do an awful lot of dog walking while listening to audiobooks! I would like to look stylish. Don’t mind spending a bit.

any ideas?

Just seen the prices of those Arcteryx coats. £700 for a coat 😱

I can't even find a raincoat on their website, only jackets, which are not coats as far as I'm concerned!

Totally in love with my accidental purchase of a Seasalt Seafaring coat. Mine was second hand but podcasts in the rain on wet dog walks have been totally dry inside my coat. The only wet bits were my knees where there was a gap between my coat and my wellies. Zippable pockets to keep the dog treats from turning to much and inside pockets for my phone etc. The magic seems to be the “Tin Cloth”.

I have this from Jack Murphy, 12 years and still going strong:

I’d recommend the Didrikson leyalong parka. I’ve had Didriksons for over a decade so I’m partial but the latest one is fab. Past knees on me I’m 5 11” so no more soggy bits between coats and boots. It’s not heavy or sweaty but lined and toasty warm. Hood is fantastic you need to put it up before you fully zip it up but then it stays put. I stay in a windy part of Scotland and it has not failed me. It’s my third Didrikson so get a good 5-6 years out of each. It was over £300. I do spend hours out in all weathers walking dog and all my other clothes come from vinted so possibly tells you how much I value this fabulous coat.

My Rains hood never stays on 😞

Neither does mine.

Equidry! It's a horsey brand, but knee length, 20000 waterproof with a massive hood (designed to fit over a riding hat) and 3 different thicknesses to choose from. Two way zip, vents, toggles to pull the waist in, loads of pockets - everything you can think of. I adore mine!

I would recommend you get a waterproof snood. I find mine less restrictive than a hood as it moves independently of the coat. Helpful for looking around for my dog in the woods etc. Plus it won’t blow back in the wind like a coat hood. I use headphones too and found a good roomy snood on Amazon. It was by a company called Fancyland.

I have purchased what I believe to be the ultimate rain mac this week, from Sainsburies of all places. Below the knee, parka ish shape but good thick raincoat material, deep pockets, deep hood. £26!

Any chance of a link? I’m looking at their longline parka but that’s £50.
