Horrible Vinted Buyer

BreadnButterx · 30/09/2024 10:18

I put an Immaculate designer handbag on for £85 on Vinted.

I lost the pouch inside, so reduced to £75. A buyer sent in an offer for £65 which I accepted.

Then asked if I could look for the pouch which I said I’m happy to but as a good will gesture.. if I can’t find it, I can offer a different colour same size pouch (good will, giving it for free). The bag is already discounted to reflect the missing matching pouch. She then asked without matching pouch “how much you expect”.

I sensed the buyer is a chancer and a cheap scammy person. She then asked me to dispatch on the same day (Sat). I said I’m working but happy to accommodate can dispatch Sat or Sun (buyer not paid yet at this stage. Buyer Didn’t pay until Sunday.

then asked if I could dispatch Monday. I didn’t reply as I have a volunteering at a food sharing place then she messaged again asking if I could dispatched Monday and include the pouch ( I already said I’m happy to dispatch asap for her!) at this point I’m already annoyed.

I have packaged, bought packaging wrapping and all wrapped ready to go this morning. One last thing to do is to print label from work on Monday. Buyer messaged to cancel order because she “bought a different bag in the same colour she just forgot, sorry”

she then submitted a reason to Vinted for cancelling the order as “ordered the wrong size” ( I sent her the exact size from the designers website prior to her purchase)

i messaged her to say I have dropped off already so no refunds. I haven’t actually dropped it off yet. Was going to do it at my lunch break.

im second guessing if I should sell it to her. She’s seems indecisive and a harassing vibe. I didn’t reply her a few hours and she’s messaging me again. Then cancelling with different reasons (ie lies). I have a feeling that she will receive the order and say it’s “not as described”

she’s such a cheap and is really annoying me. I have been nothing but accommodating, professional and helpful. And met every requests she has asked.

im thinking about not selling it to her now. What should I do?

Do not send the package if she has cancelled the sale. She will be able to see that you have not yet dispatched it from the tracking information. If she has informed Vinted, then the sale will be voided and no- one will lose any money.
Some buyers can be a bit cheeky like this. I would block her, relist your bag accurately and move on.

twomanyfrogsinabox · 30/09/2024 10:27

Don't send it, she won't want it and has told you so. You already think she is a problem and it will only get worse if you persist.

PrawnAgain · 30/09/2024 10:29

If you send this you risk being left with no money and no bag. I'd cut my losses in your position. I also think you've lost the moral high ground by lying about having posted it already.

Lincoln24 · 30/09/2024 10:30

I don't understand why you're so determined to send it. At best she'll send it back for a refund. At worst she'll get a refund and you'll never see it again.

Vinted can be like this, it's not as formal and locked in as eBay is. You have to be ready for sales to fall through, it happens.

Alwayslurkingsometimesposting · 30/09/2024 10:31

Definitely don't send it!! As pp have said you could end up with no money and no bag. I think you've dodged a bullet with her cancelling; she sounds like an absolute nightmare.

friggingnora · 30/09/2024 10:38

Definitely don't send it. She's done you a favour by cancelling.

FriendlyNeighbourhoodAccountant · 30/09/2024 10:40

Why won't you just let her cancel the order? She'll obviously mess you about so just get it cancelled and be done with it.

Unless it's royal mail she's picked she'll also know you've not dropped it off yet so I don't know why you'd want to lie. It's like you want to force her to have it because she's messed you about but she'll either raise a case with Vinted and return it to you or she'll say it's fake/not as described or whatever and Vinted will refund her. You'll be left without the item and without the cash.

PrimalLass · 30/09/2024 10:42

Absolutely do not send it. You are just risking her damaging it and claiming it was like that.

BlueBlueBerries · 30/09/2024 10:49

Don't send it. Accept the cancellation, block her and relish

BlueBlueBerries · 30/09/2024 10:49

*relist

MugPlate · 30/09/2024 10:50

Classic 'give an inch'

ImNunTheWiser · 30/09/2024 10:56

Honestly, you have to take all emotion out of the equation when selling online. People are dickheads and it’ll be bothering you so much more than it will her. I wouldn’t have engaged from the beginning tbh, if it was listed as not containing the pouch then as soon as she mentioned it I would have said - sorry already looked, no can do. I would have blocked at that point tbh because over the years I’ve learnt the signs of CFuckery a mile off (I’ve sold literally thousands of items on eBay over the years). Just ignore, relist, move on.

prescribingmum · 30/09/2024 10:58

Your hunch is correct and you can get out of it without losing the bag. Don't post it, block the buyer and relist. She has been hard work already and will just get more annoying if you send it to her

harrumphh · 30/09/2024 11:23

Of course you shouldn't sell or send it to her, have you lost your mind?

Just relist it.

ChaoticCrumble · 30/09/2024 11:23

Don't send it.

I love Vinted but with higher value items I think you're better off with eBay

Namechangepleas · 30/09/2024 11:42

Why would you send it to her if she's already cancelled it?

AW24 · 30/09/2024 11:51

She's cancelled the sale, she will get a refund- if you send it you're sending it for free.
Vinted track the sending off parcels and will know it's not sent
Return postage is usually at buyers expense but just sell on and find a more pleasant buyer x

EBay take 10% plus.
Also take 10% from postage

paristotokyo · 30/09/2024 12:18

Noooooo do not send! I've been using it quite a bit lately and luckily haven't had any issues so far but I'm sure I'll come across one or two chancers.

Supersimkin7 · 30/09/2024 12:20

Don’t do it. Crook alert.

FeedingThem · 30/09/2024 12:20

She's cancelled the sale, and even if that hasn't been approved, you know she's going to say there's an issue once she has it. Why would you send it to her? It's like you're TRYING to start a bum fight.

If the order HAS cancelled and you send it her, she's just getting your bag for free. Which is an odd choice to make.

Just tear up the label, reset the ad and move on

BreadnButterx · 30/09/2024 13:06

Thanks all. Not trying to force her to buy but she’s committed to it buying and paid for it so have some accountability is all I’m saying.

I’m more annoyed that I had to re organise my day to meet her dispatch request and priorities to accommodate a customer’s needs and I even went out to buy her a box to better protect it during transit as I knew she can be quite a difficult customer.

I’ve cancelled the order now. I’d rather give it to charity and give it to someone who will make good use of it.

ChaoticCrumble · 30/09/2024 13:10

Honestly just sell it elsewhere. It's very easy for buyers to scam sellers on vinted, that's why people were saying to cancel it - to protect you.

Jadeleigh196 · 30/09/2024 13:16

I had a similar experience with a pair or Ralph Lauren shoes. The seller was pushy and irritating then tried to return them because they didn't fit her. I refused, she claimed the shoes were fake designer and vinted sided with her because I had unfortunately lost the original shoe box. Total pain in the arse! Was only trying to get £25 for them too 🤣

Oh dear… this is what I’m talking about.

but thanks everyone anyway, dodged a bullet there.
