Wide legged jeans

I’m trying to find some wide legged jeans. I’ve fallen in love with these from Me&Em but they are so expensive. Has anyone seen anything similar for a less eye-watering price?

I liked the Levi's ribcage ones often recommended on here and found a brand new pair in my size on Vinted for £30. Worth looking on there for brands/styles you like but can't afford "new" (though often things on Vinted are new).

I've got m and s ones and am about to order in another colour. They are so nice and comfy

Meowfoy · 30/09/2024 15:16

I know they are eye waveringly expensive but you will never regret buying the Me+Em ones - on a cost per wear basis it's a great investment. I wear mine to death, they are sooooooo good and the side fastening is so flattering....

H and M 90s jeans...inexpensive and amazing...in the 1990s I was either working all the hours and wearing a suit OR pregnant...you can even down size bit xx

I have these, very pleased with the wide but not so wide that I trip over leg. They look great belted with a fitted top. I'm 5ft 11 and they're surprisingly long for a regular fit. Soft denim, comfy, decent price.

i usually buy everything secondhand from charity shops/vinted but jeans are the one thing that never work out.

i like Monki and Pull and Bear for cheaper options, both do a wide leg

Get thee behind me!

I’ve decided to include the Me&Em in my trying on session. Sometimes I find that the thing I want just doesn’t work for me. Or… I’d feel more comfortable buying them secondhand.

I’ve got H&M jeans right now: they are very good.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. My dream is the side zip so I am going to search lots of suggested retailers to see if there is anything comparable.

Try palazzo jeans from Next but size down

I agree with @Meowfoy. Those jeans are really something special, my idea of a perfect design - and, at that price, I'm assuming the quality, workmanship and ethics are all quite good.

You don't often see something that's almost unique, 'speaks' to you, and you could afford. Get them.

I think I’m after something wider legged, but those are very striking!

I got these in brown from M&S. They are lovely, but be aware, the sizing is inconsistent.

I think I need more swish. My current pair are similar. Wider than straight leg but not hugely so.

You know you’re talking yourself into the Me+Ems. The Levi’s are over £100 so it’s all relative… honestly 95% of my wardrobe is from Vinted and costs less than a tenner but a good pair of jeans, come on…. You’ll wear them 3-4 days a week!!

The picture in the link isn’t a true representation. The others pics are more accurate.

HarrietBond · 30/09/2024 20:06

I did click through but they’re just a bit straighter down than I’m after. They do look very similar to my current pair.

I saw lots like these today in Tkmaxx, do you have one near you because there website is never as good as in store.

Garlictest · 30/09/2024 20:12

OK. Different but in the zone:

My pet retailer, Nobody's Child, £79 -15%

Mumsnet's pet retailer, M&S, £45 but you'll have to hunt for them.

River Island's look nice but have an elasticated back. Asos did a wide flare but I can't find it now. Nobody's doing that super-smooth, flyless front!

I need to think about it. Do trying on. Peer at my bank account. Sob.

TK Maxx is worth a shot but there’s so rarely anything very nice in mine.

I wouldn’t buy them from Me + Em - their jeans stretch quite a lot and become baggy at the knees.

sunshinechaser · 30/09/2024 12:03

Sorry haven't read the full thread but I must have ordered about 50 pairs of wide leg jeans online before I found the perfect pair. I bought and kept the Levi ribcage wide leg jeans. They look horrible styled on the Levi website but are styled much nicer on the Next website. Yes they are over £100 however I've already worn them so many times and will continue to wear them for a long time I think. I would rather spend my money on daytime clothes that I will get lots of wear out of rather than a dress or evening wear that I won't wear much.
These jeans are really flattering and comfy. Love them!

I have these and love them. They just seem to work with everything in my wardrobe.

HappyToSmile · 30/09/2024 22:05

I got mine from Tu (Sainsbury's) high waisted and possibly the most comfortable jeans I've ever worn
