Wide legged jeans

I’m trying to find some wide legged jeans. I’ve fallen in love with these from Me&Em but they are so expensive. Has anyone seen anything similar for a less eye-watering price?

Thanks, both. Cropped is out for me I’m afraid. I’ve never heard of Caledonia before!

I’m a bit unsure on my size at the moment after some weight loss so I should give the Next Levi’s a go but am stuck on which to go for.

Try also looking at River Island they had some gorgeous dark denim ones with an elasticated back , I know that sounds grim but they look amazing . Admittedly not as chic as meandem, also try Sea Salt or asos if you like dark denim .

HarrietBond · 30/09/2024 08:59

I loathe elasticated backs, sorry. I just can’t do them. They look awful on me too somehow. I’ve got no bum at all and they accentuate that fact.

A lot of options here, thank you to everyone.

I don’t suppose anyone has seen some with the same flat front?

Look at M n S wide leg pull on jeans

@Rocknrollstar do you have a link to these? I can't find any on the website.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 30/09/2024 09:24

@HarrietBond I wish I hadn't opened your thread! Those Me&Em jeans are just fab but waaay over budget for me. It's definitely the side zip that makes them, you lose all the bulk of zipper & button at the front. If you do find anything similar and as nice please come back and update!

HarrietBond · 30/09/2024 09:27

I will! Yes, it would be lovely to avoid the front zip if I could. But it seems to be tricky.

That really good flat front must, I think, be expensive tomake or something becuase I also want a pair with it and honestly, it's impossible to find at the lower end of the market. Hence the compromise for me with the M&S ones with the pockets. It also makes me wonder whether that's why whenever I see women wearing them they look so good - expensive jeans with high quality finishes and fabrics and patterns?

I've ordered a pair -very ambitiously online which is almost ALWAYS a disaster, but will give it a go (our local M&S is a bit useless). I am hoping to have a bit more money next year and I think I might splash out on a nicer pair, especially if I've lost the additional weight I'm currently working on.

Spenttoomuchagain · 30/09/2024 09:54

Why would anyone one want to wear jeans/ trousers as wide as that? Totally impractical and look ridiculous.
Why not just wear a long skirt?

HarrietBond · 30/09/2024 11:05

It’s kind of you to worry but I’ll cope with the ridicule.

@MrSeptember which ones have you gone for?

went for the ones with the lyocell in the end. In part because the other pair didn't have my size.

Why does it matter to you?! Leave OP alone …

I’m tempted to go to my local M&S today and just do a try on, if only to get a better sense of what’s fitting me. It’s been ages since I could wear jeans that came in waist sizes and I know M&S don’t do that but they at least (should) say what waist size corresponds to their sizing. I can only hope! There’s a Next next door but obviously they won’t have any of the branded stuff instore.

There are loads out there, I have been looking for over a year, and simply cannot find a pair in either 8 or 10 L.
I try them on in store to check the fit and then see if they have L online. Nope.

If you don't get in early with the Longer length, that's it, no one seems to restock any more.

Type in wide leg bell flares on Vinted, I absolutely can't countenance paying nigh on £100 for jeans.

I think that's a good idea. it's why I got the lyocell ones - I've found they fit me better than other M&S trousers usually because I'm not entirely in proportion. Overall, Next jeans usually actually fit me better. But basically, as I've been discussing with DD, jeans are those things you have t just try on and look and try on and look. It's never as easy as, "I'll get them in that size and they'll be great"

eurochick · 30/09/2024 11:33

I have some from Boden which are good.

HarrietBond · 30/09/2024 11:42

I have trawled Vinted but not been hugely inspired. There are some very optimistic sellers out there, and the photos are frequently terrible so it's hard to get a sense of what the jeans are meant to look like on unless they are very specific about the style so I can look on the brand website (most aren't). If there were some dead cheap ones, I'd give it a go, but anyone selling jeans that don't look like they're only suitable for decorating in, in the nicer brands, is pricing high.

My other thought is that I have a rare opportunity this week to actually go to a range of shops with not much else to do. So I should be using this to hammer jeans try ons. I've lived in £18 TU ones for years when I was trying to hide away and feel like I need to be brave and put myself through the inevitable pain of a succession of unflattering attempts to find ones I love!

Sorry haven't read the full thread but I must have ordered about 50 pairs of wide leg jeans online before I found the perfect pair. I bought and kept the Levi ribcage wide leg jeans. They look horrible styled on the Levi website but are styled much nicer on the Next website. Yes they are over £100 however I've already worn them so many times and will continue to wear them for a long time I think. I would rather spend my money on daytime clothes that I will get lots of wear out of rather than a dress or evening wear that I won't wear much.
These jeans are really flattering and comfy. Love them!

I bought the M&S Palazzo ones last week, after trying on about 10 different wide leg pairs. They were by far my favourite.

Despite being a little over 5ft8 with long legs, I only needed the regular length.
