Is this brand good? Some of the stuff looks pretty nice.

I live in an EU country and have just clocked they deliver there.

It's very much a budget brand. Good for everyday kids clothes. You can sometimes find decent fashion items.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/09/2024 08:22

It used to be ok, but the last few things I've bought shrank a crashed badly.

mumofaboynow · 28/09/2024 08:23

I think they're absolutely brilliant for most kids clothes quality (don't like all of their styles but the ones I do come up lovely in the wash!)

The adult stuff seems to shrink much easier and be made of cheaper materials Confused

Bankholidayhelp · 28/09/2024 08:26

Love their:-
jeans (they do the longer lengths as well as shorter which is excellent for this fam!)
T-shirt packs for work wear/men
Cheap office work wear - so trousers, cardis, tops
Homewares - duvet sets, seasonal, cups, glasses, towels

I think they are a bit of a budget Next.

BlastedPimples · 28/09/2024 09:17

Thank you.

I was eyeing this jacket, or this one or this one as they look quite good quality, I thought. You'd pay the same at Next?

Just like other supermarket ranges there are a few good pieces but quality is variable. Fine when you can browse in the store and return easily but don't think I'd recommend delivery

All of your links go to the homepage. Next is a bit hit and miss these days, and certainly not the quality it was 30 years ago, but I would expect George at Asda to be cheaper as it is a supermarket brand.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 28/09/2024 11:06

They did do some knee high leather boots which looked nice.

I’ve had sandals be ok too in past.

I don’t really have an Asda near me so couldn’t comment on quality.

mynameiscalypso · 28/09/2024 11:09

It does do some good things - I really rate their jeans and their swimwear - but you have to check things like the fabric composition quite closely otherwise things can look a bit cheap. There are some gems though. My favourite ever wide legged black trousers come from ASDA and are much nicer than much more expensive brands.

Upthejunctionandroundthebend · 28/09/2024 11:12

My best sports bra came from Asda. If you browse everything there are a few nice things.

EmmaEmEmz · 28/09/2024 11:22

I buy a lot from there and recommend it.

Bankholidayhelp · 28/09/2024 11:37

Second the swimwear being good.

Recent purchases have been:
Table cloth and napkins in a sage green (Stacey Solomon) - excellent and lovely colour/ texture. They have frills and they are very frilly!
On trend ultra Flared jeans long length - fashion conscious late teen loves them. She doesn't like 'stretch' and George has a great selection of none elastane jeans.
Pack of 5 work Ts for outside working OH - cheap as chips and good value. They do go weird if you wash them at too high a temp - okay at 40 but not 60
Placemats for Christmas - excellent and lovely - white/green Christmas trees.
Brown/muted dress for me which was hideous and is going back on Monday! It's very nylon and shapeless. My fault I didn't look properly.
Extra large bath sheets - great range of colours and use and wash well.

They got some Collab going on with rocksanda , but it's too out there for me!

Mymanyellow · 28/09/2024 11:40

Good value for kids clothes. Especially tees and joggers for nursery my dgs have them. Plus pjs for kids too.
I bought a coat two years ago now just a black padded one. Still going strong it was about £25 so good value.

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 28/09/2024 11:43

Nowhere near Next quality. More like Primark/New Look I’d say. I still buy bits from all of those places but they’re certainly not what I’d call quality. In fact I bought a skirt from Asda that I have to return today as I noticed the hem has totally come unstitched and I haven’t even worn it yet. Annoying. If I was paying international shipping to get it delivered/returned instead of popping down the road I’d be well pissed off!

NannyGythaOgg · 28/09/2024 12:52

Love George stuff on the whole. (The actual designer George came to Asda from Next in 1995, very much improved Asda stuff, but is not still there I don't think). I have a very low budget for clothes and most of what I buy is Asda or Primark.

I find Asda brilliant for basics such as tee shirts, vests etc. Occasionally buy mor fashion stuff but I don't go out much so cheap and cheerful is fine for me. I do have some joggers I bought about 10 years ago which, although slightly faded, are still going strong for gardening etc. Seams have held up and stayed straight and I have worn them lots.

Whothefuckdoesthat · 28/09/2024 15:16

The things that are good are really good and will last you forever. The things that aren’t good will fall apart after five minutes.

Towels are good. Kids clothes are really good. Kids shoes are not so good. Not bad quality, but the sizing can be a bit weird. Bedding is ok (it’s cheap; so you’re getting what you pay for really, but it feels fine after a few washes) but their brushed cotton bedding is very poor quality, I’ve found. Men’s clothes are good. I’ve only bought a few vest tops from women’s clothes but they have lasted over ten years and still going strong. Household stuff is reasonably good quality. And they have the occasional piece that is really lovely. And they do have lots of brand stuff (Disney, Marvel, Thomas and Friends) which is usually a good price.

I wouldn’t say it’s as always as good quality as stuff you’d get from Next, but it’s not at all bad and you aren’t paying Next prices.

Aintthatso · 28/09/2024 15:21

I wouldn’t buy there for myself but I do get joggers and the odd t shirt for teen dc and they are good for nighties and pyjamas too.

Hoppinggreen · 28/09/2024 15:22

Its cheap and looks like it
BUT if you want some fast fashion then its ok

DerekFaker · 28/09/2024 15:37

I like their jeans and they have some cool tshirts. Their underwear is decent too. Everything I've bought recently is better quality than Primark or New Look, but ymmv.

CowboyJoanna · 28/09/2024 16:15

Fucking love it
I buy most the kids clothes from there and Primark

VoteLabour · 28/09/2024 17:02

Everything I've had from there has been great.

Chipsahoy · 28/09/2024 17:30

It’s hit and miss, which is my problem with it. I’ve got some tights from there that have lasted forever but pjs for kids went bobbly and shrunk. I’ve a lovely skirt that has lasted ages but a top that shrunk. I only ever buy kids joggers or the odd tshirt for them then and just assume they won’t last.

PadstowGirl · 28/09/2024 17:49

It's about the same level as Matalan, although I have to say Matalan stuff seems better quality and they have a huge range.

borntobequiet · 28/09/2024 18:04

Some of their stuff is excellent. I’ve got a couple of pairs of heavy linen trousers that look way more expensive than they were. T shirts and vest tops are generally long enough and nice cotton. Good quality underwear.
I used to have a young colleague who dressed exclusively from there. She always looked stylish and stunning, mind you, she’d have probably managed in the proverbial bin bag.

Button28384738 · 28/09/2024 18:10

Yeah I like them, for the price they're good quality- similar prices to primark for example but better quality. Sizes are generous too which you don't usually get with cheaper brands.
You're obviously not going to get something that lasts you 10 years but if you're after something to wear for 1-2 seasons then yes they're fine.
Not the shoes though, they're not great
