A primer/serum to wear under make up that blurs pores, reduces shine but also makes me look glowy at 58!

Will pay a ridiculous amount for something I can apply after moisturiser and before foundation - I get a shiny forehead with large pores. Nothing too 'young' and cheap because they are often too mattifying or greasy!

Clarins Instant Smooth is a bit like that stuff plasterers use to fill holes and cracks - you slather it on with a spatula and basically have a brand new face to work with.

merrymelodies · 20/09/2024 06:54

Smashbox! Expensive but so worth it.

Pinkchicken75 · 20/09/2024 06:56

Elf is lovely
No7 also

Worldgonecrazy · 20/09/2024 06:58

Loving Charlotte Tilbury at the moment.

This really made me laugh 😂

Lol! I used to love their beauty flash balm but they've changed it and now it's crap.

I also have very reactive skin so a bit worried about cheaper brands.

No 7 do so many! Impossible to tell which will work.

Bare Minerals do a really nice one. Has a very smooth and velvety feel.

AlbertCampion · 20/09/2024 10:15

I swear by Touche Eclat Blur Primer from YSL. Makes everything super smooth and sort of glowy. A bit like a real life filter!

sunshinechaser · 20/09/2024 11:37

I don't think one primer can do all the things you listed! I wear two separate primers-a pore reducing one on my t zone and a glowy one on my cheeks (Max Factor) and under eye area (Glossier).

learieonthewildmoor · 20/09/2024 12:33

Laura Mercier has a blurring primer and an illuminating one.
The Clinique light reflecting primer is very good for giving you glowy skin.

sommerjade · 20/09/2024 19:26

Smashbox was the best but it's not available in the uk or Ireland anymore. I keep trying but can't find a better one.

Ohyeahwaitaminute · 20/09/2024 23:36

I agree. Smashbox primer was the BIZ. My makeup drawer is full of ‘failed’ primers. 😩

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/09/2024 00:00

Estée Lauder

I’m 60. Elf poreless primer is excellent.

This is the best I've tried 👍

ISeriouslyDoubtIt · 21/09/2024 00:08

Estée Lauder futurist watery glow primer. I'm 60 and love this primer. I often just use it on its own without any foundation on top.

madmomma · 21/09/2024 00:10

The Armani one is gorgeous. Ask for a sachet. It's really beautifying

GettingStuffed · 21/09/2024 00:19

I have L'Oréal niacinamide and aloe, it's really good and would fit the bill. As an aside I put my excess facial cream etc onto the back of my hand and a couple of weeks ago I burnt the back of my hand and a week later the burn has gone and it only shows if I angle my hand and that's because I know where it is.

Is that the one that comes in a tub almost like a balm? As that made me break out sadly.

Korean brands have very advanced technology. I hate a shiny nose but obvs after a certain age you do want to look a bit glowy rather than the flat matt that silicone primers give you. I think Erborian Skin Hero with ginseng is really good. The whole brand is great if you have decent skin.

pretalmondcroissants · 21/09/2024 07:51

Benefit pore-sessional fills in pores and reduces shine, and gives you a great colanvas. It doesn’t have a glow though. I really like it, I’ve bought it for years and I rarely depart from Estée Lauder for anything these days.

Happii · 21/09/2024 07:53

If you head to a biggish branch of somewhere like Boots the beauty counter staff can advise, its handy being able to actually try them as well as everyone is so different! I like NYX Marshmallow but know it's not everyone's cup of tea.

OtisPotis · 21/09/2024 08:18

Elemis pro collagen insta smooth primer - I've never used one but this was part of a set. I was amazed at the difference in my complexion, glowy and even. I will always use this now. Pricey but worth it.

AnSionnachGlic · 21/09/2024 08:30

I use Bobi Brown Face base Vitamin enriched...it's pricey but only one which blurs forehead, without drying out face. I'm 53 and want to look fresh without looking shiny!!
