Nesti Dante Soaps & cheaper alternatives

BlackSwan · 19/09/2024 18:46

I love these soaps. I discovered them from the Style thread. But the price on amazon is now £10 a bar. This one is my favourite NESTI DANTE Emozioni di Toscana, Villages & Monasteries Soap 250 g : Amazon.co.uk: Beauty

I have found it cheaper elsewhere but can see the prices will be rising everywhere soon.

Has anyone found nice alternatives? I love a good old fashioned clean smelling soap. Nothing harsh on skin.

I’ve not used the soaps that you mention though so can’t offer a comparison.

hashimotosucks · 20/09/2024 13:58

Tk maxx has lots of this sort of soap

Roystonv · 20/09/2024 14:20

Just coming on to say TK Maxx. You might not get that exact one though. Usually under £4.

BlackSwan · 20/09/2024 14:24

Wow thank you.

I ran into the same problem OP. I tried the Kew Garden soap (I will only use cruelty free products) and I’m very impressed. I went for the bluebell and jasmine and it’s so fragrant that I can smell it when I walk in the front door (disclaimer - I live in a bungalow) 😀

they have an offer on at the moment - 2 for £12. I ordered it direct from them although it is available elsewhere

I had the same problem, @BlackSwan . I love the fig and almond one and despite trying various others from TK Maxx and Etsy, they weren’t a patch on Nesti! I found them from a chemist online and bought 6.

I haven’t tried the Kew ones, actually-would like to smell them!

GermanBite · 20/09/2024 14:29

Yep, TK Maxx has a huge range of similar soaps. They often have Nesti too.

shellyleppard · 20/09/2024 14:30

Op try the chateau savon site, they do the most heavenly soaps. I use the french lavender but they have absolutely loads of different ones. A lot on offer at the moment 10 for £10.

AntigoneFunn · 20/09/2024 14:37

That particular one is my absolute favourite too OP. It is so beautifully fragranced - smells of wooden floors, mossy walls and a bit of incense to me. I haven't found a decent alternative to it so I just sick up the cost.

TKMaxx do do some lovely soaps but I've never seen this one in there.

DeloresVonCartier · 20/09/2024 14:39

I've been using English Soap Company, not quite as beautiful as my favourite Nesti Dante but pretty close.

I found a multi-pack of Nesti Dante from an online chemist & the price seemed excellent: but they just arrived and they're miniature versions! Like regular sized soap bars, not the usual brick sized ones.
The quest continues

Thanks for the other recommendations I'll give them a try. We seem to eat through soap in my family.

I've been buying soap from the English soap company. Really nice soap, lovely smells and not drying, but still leave you feeling really clean. The one I'm using at the moment is lime and lemongrass, with little scrubby seeds in it. The scent fills the bathroom

BlackSwan · 20/09/2024 18:03

That sounds invigorating.

One I like with that kind of texture is this ... smells a bit more clinical, very soapy clean smell:
Revitale Salicylic Acid Scrub Soap, Pore Exfoliating, Softening Skin, Anti-Blemish : Amazon.co.uk: Beauty

I like the English soap company too. I used to get Woods of Windsor but they don't seem to be doing the large bars now.

WaneyEdge · 20/09/2024 18:08

The Kew ones are nice. I get the six pack of Nesti Dante from either Liberty or Fortnum & Mason, they last for ages. Usually only have to buy 2 packs a year, there is only me using it though.

okilay · 20/09/2024 18:13

I've had to switch to buying my soaps from TK Maxx as can no longer justify the price of Nesti soaps. I was gutted at first but I like smelling the different ones in the shop and choosing new scents/makes.

I think it was Chemist Connect I got mine from-they were the full size ones.

peoplearepeople · 20/09/2024 18:27

Have you tried your local garden centres op? That is where I regularly manage to stock up on my favourite nesti dante soaps.

SoapCollector · 20/09/2024 19:08

Soap - my favourite subject! 😁

Op, I've seen Nesti Dante soaps recently in TKMaxx, the big 250g bars, various random fragrances, but not in the fragrance you are looking for. I agree the villages and monasteries bar smells lovely. I've not found anything like it, quite a unique smell.

Friendly Soap make nice scented soaps but they're a softer bar than Nesti Dante so don't seem to last as long and the bars are only 100g.

I'll get looking online and I'll be back if I find any villages and monasteries stock!

SiobahnRoy · 20/09/2024 19:13

You can get them at Escentual, 25% off at the moment. TKmaxx usually sells them too.

BlackSwan · 20/09/2024 19:16

Over to Escentual then!

Thanks for the garden centre tip too - I wouldn't have thought to try there. But now whatever I save on soap I'll spend on plants I'll kill in no time.

I didnt think TK Maxx did the actual Nesti soaps, butt they do another similar brand

I usually find the Nesti soaps in garden centres or fancy gift shops, saw some recently and I didnt buy them as they were 6 quid each but now I see the price on Amazon is a tenner, the 6 quid was a bargain

I hate seeing these threads about soap because I have boxes and boxes of them but always want to buy more!!
