Your favourite jeans shape

If we totally forget about trends, fashion or new silhouettes, what is your all time favourite jeans cut?

I have always preferred mid rise, and a slimmer fit that is tighter at the ankle. Like the old Topshop Baxter's were in the early days before they went proper skinny. I loved those. Not too high, not too wide - perfection!

I don't like straight as they appear to shorten my legs, and can't be bothered with wide because they flap about and always feel more of a 'statement' than a regular piece of clothing.

But it's all subjective! I love that there's more choice then ever nowadays, though, that is a good thing, but wish they'd have more variety in crotch length for those of us who don't want our jeans to rub noses with our boobs!

Midrise and either boyfriend cut (slightly loose) with rolled or deep folded cuffs or barrel leg and slightly cropped.

ForGreyKoala · 15/09/2024 23:43

Midrise bootcut/flares all the way.

tobee · 15/09/2024 23:55

Bootcut

Oktagrammata · 15/09/2024 23:57

Mum jeans.. slim at the bottom with either raw edge or turn up

User19876536484 · 15/09/2024 23:57

Low rise bootcut.

MarysTheBoss · 16/09/2024 00:05

All time favourite would be bell bottoms. I really liked Topshop skinny Leigh jeans, the fabric was really soft.

Devilsmommy · 16/09/2024 00:08

Low rise boyfriend are my favourite. Not that it's easy to get now😅

Thetrickcyclist · 16/09/2024 00:13

High waisted bootcut/kick flare
Preferably 100% cotton, no stretch

greenrollneck · 16/09/2024 00:16

For me Levi's 501 crop, with a small roll or larger cuff depending on my mood, in a pale blue.

I used to live in tooshop Baxter's, and diesel bolds.

Anisty · 16/09/2024 01:08

Must be flares/bootcut to balance out my large hips

DramaAlpaca · 16/09/2024 01:23

Bootcut, wide, straight or skinny, depending on what else I'm wearing and my footwear. I'm tall and suit all those shapes. Fairly highrise for preference, with a bit of stretch for comfort.

I hate cropped jeans or trousers in general, and I'm not too sure about these new shapes - barrel, mum, boyfriend - mainly because I don't really know what they are.

BusterGonad · 16/09/2024 03:07

Kick fares then skinny jeans. Skinny jeans are really versatile so I'll never stop wearing them.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 16/09/2024 03:08

High waist, 50s box cut. Raw denim.

Stirmish · 16/09/2024 03:09

Oh god I haven't worn jeans for months now

I'll just wear my boyfriend style jeans if they still fit eek

SnufkinsSpiritAnimal · 16/09/2024 03:38

Never understood the bootcut thing.
They're like skinnies with a slightly wider ankle Confused

Mid rise kick flares in indigo denim. I like a bit of stretch, so they're close-fitting on the thigh but not so much they go baggy after the first wear. Miss Selfridge did the perfect pair 20-odd years ago.

It's sad when something you love goes off market.

Also slim for me (I was also a Baxters fan!). I have some Levi's 312's now which are similar.

And low slung boyfriends too. I used to have barrel jeans from Whistles that I sold on vinted. I wish I still had them now they're back in fashion.

I don't really like kickflares, but am actually contemplating a pair of bootcut after I saw someone in a pair the other day.

They are way more flattering than skinny jeans - you avoid the parsnip look! None of mine are as skin tight on the top half as skinnies either, and the longer leg makes your legs look long.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 16/09/2024 05:04

High-ish waisted, really fitted around the hips and bum then looser on the leg. Ankle length, tapered, ideally cuffed.

I disagree that wide bottoms are needed to balance out big hips (which I have). I think it's better to aim for a fitted waist and add balance with shoulder width to create an hourglass shape.

Boot cuts generally start to flare out just above the knee. I'd say they're very different to skinnys, which are tight throughout.

ArcticBells · 16/09/2024 06:00

Straight leg or skinny in a size too big

Webbymeister · 16/09/2024 06:02

Totally agree with OP

baxter. Early

Webbymeister · 16/09/2024 06:03

Wife jeans make most people look broad

mom suit no one.

high rise tight can look like a big nappy

Webbymeister · 16/09/2024 06:03

Wide*. Lol
