Your favourite jeans shape

If we totally forget about trends, fashion or new silhouettes, what is your all time favourite jeans cut?

I have always preferred mid rise, and a slimmer fit that is tighter at the ankle. Like the old Topshop Baxter's were in the early days before they went proper skinny. I loved those. Not too high, not too wide - perfection!

I don't like straight as they appear to shorten my legs, and can't be bothered with wide because they flap about and always feel more of a 'statement' than a regular piece of clothing.

But it's all subjective! I love that there's more choice then ever nowadays, though, that is a good thing, but wish they'd have more variety in crotch length for those of us who don't want our jeans to rub noses with our boobs!

Midrise bootcut/flares all the way.

WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing · 16/09/2024 06:45

Wide legs all the way. Bought a pair of these around 5 years ago from Wyse and the denim is superb. Wear them several times a week. Wish I’d bought more 😔

High rise every time.

I like bootcut/flared though have become quite found of boyfriend jeans.

Floisme · 16/09/2024 08:11

I haven't got a favourite, I'm just enjoying switching from wide leg to barrel leg to flares and then back again, plus a narrower straight leg when the weather's bad. I don't even mind skinnies - I just got bored to death with them and that feeling hasn't worn off yet.

I don't ever remember a time when there was so much choice of style available, I don't know how long it's going to last and I'm making the most of it.

henlake7 · 16/09/2024 09:16

High rise bootcut/flared firstly because they have abit of a retro vibe which I love and also coz I have huge calves and they fit better!

Lovethatforyouhun · 16/09/2024 09:24

Mum jeans or Flares baby!

Midrise and either boyfriend cut (slightly loose) with rolled or deep folded cuffs or barrel leg and slightly cropped.

The boyfriend for jeans, the barrel for heavy cotton and linen trousers I buy in Melbourne.

NunyaBeeswax · 16/09/2024 11:25

What are mens jeans cut like?
Cause of all the jeans I've worn, the Wranglers I 'borrowed' from an ex were the best. I've got a couple pairs now, Texas Stretch.

Kitkat1523 · 16/09/2024 11:27

Boot cut/ flares

ParisGellerFTW · 16/09/2024 11:40

My faves are Hush Remy, sort of a wide/straight hybrid with a perfectly slouchy leg shape. Uber comfortable. I do need a fitted top half with them, though, which limits me a bit unless I just don't GAF and wear whatever. I love them with a ribbed 90s-style tee.

I had the perfect flares from Boden years ago. They were like magic, elongating the legs and slimming the thighs. I still have them somewhere, but they don't fit any more.

WhiteTowel · 16/09/2024 11:51

Skinny. You'll never hear me say otherwise.

Angelofmycoins · 16/09/2024 12:03

Flares. Love em, never stopped wearing them.

SnufkinsSpiritAnimal · 16/09/2024 12:39

For some reason I have never liked a flared ankle on me,
At 5'4 I suddenly look squat in them compared to slimmer legs.
I don't tend to look parsnip-y in skinnies though. It is like wider ankles swallow up my legs somehow.

Fascinating how we all see it so differently!

High waist, wide leg. I also like boot cut (though not the type that are too tight on the thighs) and barrel.

In all jeans and denim skirts, I like a high waist and the fabric to be a thick, fairly rigid, 100% cotton. No elastane.

CarolinaInTheMorning · 16/09/2024 13:16

High waist, slim straight.

It is a combination of your body shape and your preferred aesthetic.
I have slim legs, especially skinny thighs, and I love jane birkin so no brainer for me.

Me too. I’m really liking my high waist wide legs at the moment- they feel very relaxed and carefree. But I loved cropped/rolled straight legs last year, and skinnies before that. I don’t feel any enthusiasm about flares/bootcuts coming back, but that’s because they only really work with heels, and I don’t want to go there again.

I've worn bootcuts or flares for most of my life, and have literally never worn heels. I make sure they aren't too long though.

I never wear flares/boot cut with heels….ever…..I wear them with converse or sambas…..or Tasmans….or Birkenstocks when it’s warm

StormingNorman · 16/09/2024 22:26

High waist and straight leg.

dibly · 16/09/2024 22:33

I’ve loved them all at various times but wide are like my signature style, and also love boyfriend with broad cuffs. Would love a good pair of jet black barrel legs this autumn but haven’t seen any that quite fit the bill yet.

CheeseWisely · 16/09/2024 22:37

In guaranteed dry weather, kick flares, hug the bum, tight to the knee and then wide. I used to have a beautiful dark wash low rise pair of Earls, and a high waisted vintage pair in the palest blue denim.

In any suspicion of wet weather, skinnies. I don't care if they're not in fashion. They'll need to peel them from my cold dead legs. I can't do that 90s damp denim up to the knee again at my great age, I just can't.

Really wanting these….might not be jet black enough for you? Think they are on the right side of “barrel” not too OTT!

Mid-rise straight in terms of won't look too out of date but I like skinnies best in winter as they tuck into boots easily.
I also like bootcut but feel I need a heel with them.

Wide or cropped are not for me, and neither are 'mom' jeans. They look ok n thers.

Ripped jeans are awful.

dibly · 17/09/2024 10:18

Thanks @WhyamIinahandcartandwherearewegoing theyre lovely but possibly a bit more high waisted. Yes I’m fussy!
