Shaving pubic hair for spa

I’m currently in a hotel in austria with a sauna (which is textile free/nude). I have never done this before so enjoyed the novelty of got in fit a try. TMI but I am and always have been very full bush, however EVERY guest in the spa is completely shaven. I have never removed everything completely but I am going so that I don’t stand out in the spa. Is this a weird thing to do? And I’m worried the guests will notice that I’ve shaved :/

And yes, everyone is completely bald downstairs (even the 50+ year olds!).

Can you imagine even being 50+ still waxing down there! 🙄
@forevernumb
You don't know that your pubic hair starts to go all sparse after menopause?

Have you been through the menopause yet?
I wish that was true for me. I'm nearly 60 and I'm still trying to keep on top of it. If anything it's got wilder down there!
It's the same with my friends, we are still making regular trips to the salon for our waxing.

Mine has got less and I hardly ever have to do my arm pits or legs. I'm 69.

Whatever you do, do not under any circumstances book one of those saltwater flotation sessions.

I shaved the night before so to look lovely in the spa, OMG had to press the emergency buzzer after a minute as I was being burned alive.

I second this, I regularly go to a floatation tank, any tiny cut stings so much

What, men too? It's this a bit of a niche venue you've wandered into?

It's quite normal in some countries. We went to one in Slovakia and there were people on a work trip there. Imagine sitting next to a bloke from work starkers and casually chatting.

Yes, men shave their pubic hair too, my husband does.

I wish mine would thin out!
I think I'm just hairy! ( especially on my chin!)

How did you get on? I bet they did notice but they wouldn't have said anything. You'll find it easier to keep your pubic area bare than to shave a landing strip.

Yes no one said anything (unsurprisingly) and it’s a women’s only sauna so I cannot speak for the men. I agree that a landing strip might be too much maintenance but I will cross that bridge!

Whatever you go with, remember to exfoliate and moisturise.

Yes, I’m just irrationally worried that my fellow sauna goers will wonder where my lovely bush has gone.

Why would they be interested enough in you to look or notice?

EBearhug · 15/09/2024 16:38

Don't have to imagine it, have done it. We're not all bed-bound and past it at 50, you know.

suburburban · 15/09/2024 16:47

Can't you wear a swimsuit

I couldn't think of anything worse

SweetLittlePixie · 15/09/2024 16:50

I dont think anyone would notice. I go to the spa often with nude saunas and i dont study peoples bushes :)
As someone who always shaves I would ignore all the advice you have been given here. More is less when it comes to treating the area! Dont exfoliate or put deodorant on?!
Ive been shaving for 20 years and have never had a rash or ingrown hair or anything. Just leave it well alone except for maybe the normal moisturiser you put on your body anyways.

Indeed. 50 is the new 30 IMHO

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 15/09/2024 17:32

These are all strangers. Why does it matter if they notice or what they think?

Cheesecakecookie · 15/09/2024 17:41

I’ve never had any problem from shaving.

Ive also never had a full bush and I started shaving as soon as it grew.

I suppose the is a fashion aspect to it too - in the last 20 years or so it’s become more common to be bare. So much so I once had a man request a grew it so he could see how it looked !

Truthseeker456 · 15/09/2024 20:03

You are hilarious thanks op

What part of textile free confused you…😂

suburburban · 15/09/2024 20:53

lol definitely not for me

What would happen if you ignored this and put bikini bottoms on, would you forcibly be removed?

Don't know about Austria, but some saunas ate definitely clothes-free and you 'd be asked to leave or remove them - for hygiene reasons.

sarabaellty237 · 16/09/2024 06:54

Hopefully it won't be too horrendous for you, moisturise a lot and use a facial scrub in a few days to help with in-growing hairs

Austria is the same. At least the one in the hotel I stayed in was.

I shaved once and it felt good when smooth but I didn’t like how it looked. DH prefers hair too so I just wax the overgrowth and trim now. I wouldn’t have shaved for a sauna. Be proud of your natural assets!
