Shaving pubic hair for spa

I’m currently in a hotel in austria with a sauna (which is textile free/nude). I have never done this before so enjoyed the novelty of got in fit a try. TMI but I am and always have been very full bush, however EVERY guest in the spa is completely shaven. I have never removed everything completely but I am going so that I don’t stand out in the spa. Is this a weird thing to do? And I’m worried the guests will notice that I’ve shaved :/

Yes, I’m just irrationally worried that my fellow sauna goers will wonder where my lovely bush has gone.

I find Austrians to be quite conformist. Perhaps they will appreciate that you are one of them now!

Ouch... Here for you through the regrowth... That's gonna itch like crazy

I've gone back and forth between bush and shaved multiple times, based on my own whim..... never experienced any issues or itch...

How do you actually feel about it, OP? Regardless of other's opinions? I first tried at age 39, and loved it!

Really? I have found the itch excruciating! I think it's a shame you shaved OP, you could have led some sort of spa revolution to de-pornify womens bodies and encourage natural hair growth. Maybe you could have written 'Free the bush' in Austrian just below your belly button.

Yes it does feel quite sexy. I took it down with some clippers first so have done quite a good job. Although it feels bare to I might leave a strip next time. What max you make the leap at 39?

I can’t believe you SHAVED a full bush. Ouch!

No way would I have done that to fit in with a bunch of randoms in a spa.

But it’s done now. It’s going to itch like a bitch growing back 😆

AnnaMagnani · 14/09/2024 09:35

Whatever you do, do not under any circumstances book one of those saltwater flotation sessions.

I shaved the night before so to look lovely in the spa, OMG had to press the emergency buzzer after a minute as I was being burned alive.

Noseybookworm · 14/09/2024 09:48

They might notice but really, so what? You're never going to see these people again so it doesn't matter 😂

I know! It was a bit of a task 🙈

That was my first thought!

I wouldn't, it will be horrific growing back! Just tidy the edges or go as you are.

@TooManyNiblings

maybe she’ll like it and not want to grow it back?

I’m not sure tbh! I do quite like having the bush. Although the feeling when it’s first shaved is amazing

Someone always relates it back to porn and that we can’t think with our own heads. OP sorry you felt like you had to get rid, if it’s how you like it. I personally prefer most hair removed as I find it more comfortable. I will not shave as that is going to be so irritating when it starts coming back

notacooldad · 14/09/2024 11:15

And yes, everyone is completely bald downstairs (even* the 50+ year olds!).

Can you imagine even being 50+ * *still waxing down there! 🙄

AlwaysKindaKnewYoudBeTheDeathOfMe · 14/09/2024 11:35

What's being 50 got to do with having beauty treatments you want?

Are you under the impression that past 50 there's no reason not to take care of how we look and feel about ourselves any more?

I mean - 90, maybe I won't care. 50???

AlwaysKindaKnewYoudBeTheDeathOfMe · 14/09/2024 11:36

Haha you got there before me @notacooldad 😂

financialcareerstuff · 14/09/2024 13:38

I just do a daily shave over it, just as I do my arms and legs, in the shower. I've never had an issue. My skin there reacts just the same to shaving any other bit. I'm not sensitive. I would never ever wax- I hate pain.

OP, you asked what made the change at 39... I think it was a combination of rethinking and reinventing myself post divorce with a ton of different stuff, including wearing more daring swim suits as my confidence improved.......and I think on a practical level my bladder was getting a bit weaker, and I didn't feel as fresh with longish hair down there, catching any mishaps. I generally feel fresher, and strangely I also think I look slimmer with no hair there! But I let it all grow out sometimes. I have tried a strip, but I find it really hard to make it neat, and look like it's not just a mistake!

sarabaellty237 · 14/09/2024 22:30

Does facial scrub really work?

AlwaysKindaKnewYoudBeTheDeathOfMe · 14/09/2024 23:13

Who the hell would facial scrub their fanny!? Nooooooo!

OpalGoose · 14/09/2024 23:40

How did you get on? I bet they did notice but they wouldn't have said anything. You'll find it easier to keep your pubic area bare than to shave a landing strip.

You don't know that your pubic hair starts to go all sparse after menopause?

Velvetandgold · 15/09/2024 00:46

sarabaellty237 · 14/09/2024 22:30

Not for preventing or removing ingrown hairs, IME. I find serum with salicylic acid or retinol (or something else drying) is far more effective at healing the bumps caused by ingrown hairs, after I've scratched them out with my fingernails one by one to release the trapped hairs, which hurts like hell and puts me off shaving.

Have you been through the menopause yet?
I wish that was true for me. I'm nearly 60 and I'm still trying to keep on top of it. If anything it's got wilder down there!
It's the same with my friends, we are still making regular trips to the salon for our waxing.

I couldn't give an opinion on that, I've been bare downstairs for 40 years. I haven't noticed a change in the regrowth either, it's been slow and sparse for most of those 40 years.

Mine hasn't, still as full as ever

Rhysandswife · 15/09/2024 11:43

I shave mine off because I, horribly, have completely straight pubes. They look awful!

Moisturiser and a scrub in the shower will help with the itchy regrowth stage OP
