Not more bloody Elasticizer!

bringincrazyback · 13/09/2024 00:23

Seriously. Just why do so many beauty boxes/advent calendars contain Elasticizer?! I realise it's a popular product, but I've amassed so much of the stuff now in various boxes/advent calendars over the years, I've seen it listed in countless boxes/calendars I haven't bought, and I'm not even sure I understand the hype!

Been looking at this year's advent calendars and it seems to be the same story! I can't think of any other product that crops up with such monotonous regularity as Elasticizer. Anyone else baffled/irritated by its ubiquity?!

It does nothing for my hair either

It does nothing for my hair either! I have so many tubes of the stuff!

ApolloandDaphne · 13/09/2024 09:39

I have the one I got to my DD and she loves it. She bought it again. She has very long thick straight hair and it seems to work for her.

bringincrazyback · 13/09/2024 14:40

Tbf I do seem to get some benefit from using it, so it's not wasted, but I wouldn't say it's any more effective than when I use my Aussie 3-minute deep conditioner. 😄 I'd assumed from its ubiquity that it was wildly popular, so it's interesting to hear it's not just me who isn't wowed by it.

I love it! Send it to me! I have long, straight thickish easy hair but it makes it so much softer and sleek. I have friends with curly/ textured hair and it's an absolute miracle product on their hair.
For best results you need to leave it on quite a while, u try to do a few hours. Put it on, cling film, beanie, clean the house or something then wash it off.

Shadowbox7 · 13/09/2024 14:43

Baffled by adults buying advent calendars full of things they don't need or want tho.
Save them for the kids🤷‍♀️

JudgeBurrito · 13/09/2024 14:46

I had loads sitting gathering dust because all I had read was people fed up getting it so assumed it was rubbish, but I used it recently and it made a huge difference to my hair. I'm a convert. And typically this year there's less PK products in the calendars!

@Shadowbox7 The kids don't want elasticiser either... On a serious note. Let people enjoy things. It's no skin off your nose.

Not really. I'm sure it's pretty rare that someone can use every single product in an advent calendar, but most products in it are of use to the purchaser/recipient, it can still be a good buy or a welcome gift. Some people put the bits they don't want on Ebay which then partly offsets the cost of the calendar. Yes, they're extravagant, but people will always want to treat themselves/need to buy gifts for others. No one's being forced to buy them.

Totally agree. It's such an utter faff as you have to apply it to wet hair as a 'pre wash'.

I think it's really hair dependent, mine is curly and I don't notice any chance at all

Colette · 13/09/2024 15:18

I love it - curly dry hair, wish I could find cheaper alternatives ☹️

Weeps for the planet😥..

LivingDeadGirlUK · 13/09/2024 15:48

All the Elasticizer haters need to get it on Vinted so the lovers can pick it up cheap :)

Not personally a fan but got a sister product that was less of a faff (sorry can't remember name) and that was quite good!

paristotokyo · 13/09/2024 15:50

Yep I don't get the hype. I've just sold a massive tub of it on Vinted

beryldaperil · 13/09/2024 15:53

I buy them in bundles from sellers on EBay, just like you probably who don't like it or need it. I buy them in bundles of 2-4 all 150ml- 200ml for upto £20. my hair loves the stuff

Same! How do we get the surfeit of elasticizer to the right people? We need an anonymous drop off point.....😂

Once the wars stop and corporations cut their emissions, then I'll worry about my plastic tube of hair stuff.

bringincrazyback · 13/09/2024 16:26

How long does it 'keep' for, does anyone know? I've got some that's been kicking around for a while, so might too late for me to put it on Vinted, but might start doing that going forward. Didn't know you could sell beauty items on there! makes mental note

Ah, now, as a lifelong insomniac I always get excited about the Deep Sleep products. 😄 I guess one woman's Deep Sleep is another woman's Elasticizer. 😄

Well it won't help in the tube will it. Sorry I couldn't resist.

It's great if you are a swimmer. Stick it on ebay and get rid of your surplus.

MorrisZapp · 13/09/2024 19:16

That fucking pillow spray

bringincrazyback · 14/09/2024 19:29

Maybe we should start some swaps going, in the style of the Roka lucky dip threads 😄
