Not more bloody Elasticizer!

Seriously. Just why do so many beauty boxes/advent calendars contain Elasticizer?! I realise it's a popular product, but I've amassed so much of the stuff now in various boxes/advent calendars over the years, I've seen it listed in countless boxes/calendars I haven't bought, and I'm not even sure I understand the hype!

Been looking at this year's advent calendars and it seems to be the same story! I can't think of any other product that crops up with such monotonous regularity as Elasticizer. Anyone else baffled/irritated by its ubiquity?!

I love it, Ive used for about 20 years. I've short straight fine hair

chloechloe · 14/09/2024 19:52

I have so many tubes of Elasticizer but have never tried it as it’s too much faff. Is there any alternative use for it? Can I not just stick it on in the bath for 15 min or so?

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 14/09/2024 19:55

Did this mean the m&S calendar contents are out? Where can I find it?
(I also love this works deep sleep stuff)

You do you 😥🌍

I love the planet. Vegan eco hippie right here. No abroad hols. Cycle, walk, the works.

But this is a fun thread for people to post about advent calendars and this isn't the time and place for your messaging about the planet.

Your choice to shoehorn your messaging will turn off anyone even remotely interesting in caring for the planet. Find a different board and use your time more productively over there. Best of luck with it.

I liked the elasticizer but became more of a fan when I realised that it drops the curl out of my hair. And by curl, I mean the weird thing my fine, thin hair does when it's wet. Makes it look much sleeker.

Yes.

Blarn · 14/09/2024 20:02

I had a mini tube, used it once and didn't see what it was supposed to do at all. After having this tube a year I rubbed a little bit into the ends of my hair after normal conditioner, gave it a very brief rinse and it was great! I now do that when I want to leave my chin length hair a bit wavy.

Overcover · 14/09/2024 20:07

What is it?

suburburban · 14/09/2024 20:16

I don't mind it but I hate the faff of wetting my hair, putting it on then having to wash my hair afterwards

Fairyliz · 14/09/2024 20:48

I’m another one who loves it and buys it off eBay. So I’m pleased it’s in so many advent calendar’s so I can get it cheaper.

Yep! That's typically how I use it, when I use it. Can rarely be arsed doing the whole thing of leaving it on for ages and then washing it off. Actually I used some yesterday in the bath and it's helped a lot with the frizz I've been battling lately. Perhaps I haven't been giving it its due. 😄

I love it! In fact this thread inspired me to go on Vinted and buy some.

notapizzaeater · 14/09/2024 23:15

Wasn't sure how to use it, ((potter off to dust mine off))

I knew exactly what this was about before I clicked on it, I bloody hate the stuff! Does nothing for my hair and seems to be in every beauty box I get! That and lip liners in an array or awful colours 😂

Thelifeofawife · 15/09/2024 01:36

I got a few of these in the Glossybox sales last year so I shared them across beauty boxes I made up as gifts. I kept one and forgot about it, but finally used it today!

I just used it in place of my usual conditioner and it had a great result. My hair is long and thick and can be quite frizzy. It turned out smooth and shiny, and I only had to lightly straighten my hair which is a great bonus.
Now I’m sorry I didn’t keep the others 😅

kkloo · 15/09/2024 02:00

I get the big bottles off brandalley for my daughters curly hair and it lasts for around a year.
When she runs out I buy the small tubes on depop (they obviously all hate it as much as you do 😅)

Back21970 · 15/09/2024 02:12

I started using it very recently and have noticed a difference in breakage.

I don’t wet my hair though, I put it on dry as I can see easier where my hair most needs it, I find using it this way a bit less of a faff - I then pin it up, do a bit of tidying up and then wash it off usually within half an hour.

Need to try leaving it on a bit longer though with the cling film as suggested above.

DancingInDryness · 15/09/2024 02:20

A few years ago I got an elasticizer product in the M and S calender that was much more like a leave in serum than a conditioner. It was fantastic, but I can't seem to find it.

It is a faff, but I've started putting it on before I go for a run. I'm washing my hair after anyway so it doesn't feel as annoying.

🙄.

You know that pointless eyeroll will forever take up server space and servers are one of the most environmentally harmful challenges we face. Think before you post your sass.

I don't wet my hair first either, I slap it on and then i run my hands under the tap and run it through my hair. I also have loads of towel turbans so I can pop one on over the top and avoid mess. Those would be great in calendars!

suburburban · 15/09/2024 12:38

I used it today and wet my hair a little bit and bunged it on
