Perfume that lasts and actually smells

I think the only perfume I have ever had that lasts is Joe Malone Sea Salt and Wood Sage, and I am not keen on the smell. It smells a bit soapy to me.

Anyway what perfume does last?

OP posts:
CorneliaStreet · 08/09/2024 17:14

The longest lasting perfumes I have are Mon Guerlain, Armani Si and Miller Harris Scherzo.

Perfumes with ‘deeper’ notes like Patchouli, amber and vanilla generally last longer on me. Anything with oud in seems to go on for ever.

paristotokyo · 08/09/2024 17:19

Penhaligons halfeti lasts and lasts on me but depends on if you like that sort of fragrance

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 08/09/2024 17:20

I rotate three Jo Malone perfumes. The range is good so recommend trying to get some testers

fortedeimarmi · 08/09/2024 17:21

The original Prada (Amber). Can't find it now for love nor money ☹️

Iceball · 08/09/2024 17:29

I find Liz Earle No.15 lasts and am often asked what I'm wearing.

I agree. Loved it and lasted all day long

Summerhillsquare · 08/09/2024 17:42

I've had some Liberty perfumes in the beauty box and they are lasting and quite powerful.

treeindigo · 08/09/2024 17:49

I think the problem is that now they've had to reformulate them they're all weaker than they used to be, what made them strong was carcinogenic I believe? For me the key is alternating, I mostly wear Chanel ones but I rarely smell them later in the day. I've switched to body sprays for weekdays now because it was an expensive habit wearing perfume everyday when the smell was so short lived.

isthismylifenow · 08/09/2024 18:01

From my collection I would say my one with the most staying power is Juicy Couture Glistening Amber. Next from same range is Royal Rose which is so beautiful.
Sadly both now discontinued

Next would be Oud, but I only wear that in winter. It sticks to jumpers so sometimes I just have to go with that for the day 😂

Modern Muse Rogue. Also now discontined (seems to be a theme here)

And then JHAG Not a Perfume. This stays with me all day and all night. I would never need to respray this in a day ever.

My older Chanels more so than more recents. Today I'm wearing Mademoiselle which I sprayed at 8am and I can still smell it now. But Gabrielle, which is a more recent acquisition, doesn't seem to last throughout the day.

My worse stayers are Green Tea and their flankers. As lovely as they are, they are more like a mist.

My dd wears a lot of vanilla, and most of those so tend to last a long time on her.

So true about the reformations. I had Dune from the 90s and it was my signature scent. Then it wasn't available for the longest time, and then it reappeared again. I got one, but this new one does not last at all. In fact it's hardly the same at all. I was quite upset that not one person even complimented me on it 🤭, as I remember getting so many when I used to wear the old version.

Prada Paradox
Insanely good at lasting.
To the point that I could smell it on my pillowcases days after wearing it!

Coco mademoiselle lasts for days on me

LoopyLou67 · 08/09/2024 18:34

I’ve had Eilish on all day since testing it and I can’t stop bloody smelling it, so there’s a vanilla one.
Collection Privée Christian Dior doesn’t shift but I can’t say I’m a massive fan of those
Cheap and cheerful Cloud by Ariana is my go to if I want something that lasts.

Vabenejulio · 08/09/2024 18:35

Parfum/ perfume lasts.

Eau de toilette doesn’t.

lindyloo57 · 08/09/2024 19:06

I have channel number no5 but it don't last long at all, and a dior one they both are gone in 2/3 hours very disappointing

USaYwHatNow · 08/09/2024 19:09

If you're not opposed to a dupe, I use Noted Aromas version of Baccarat Rouge (Monte Carlo) and I have had loads of compliments on it and it lasts all day. I don't smell it on myself after a while but apparently others still can!

Deathraystare · 08/09/2024 19:12

@JohnLapsleyParlabane
Well I am surprised because a lot of people comlain that the Jo Malone ones don't last. I cannot remember it is so long since I bought one. I used to love Pomegranate Noir but changed to Liz Earle's 15.

I love the smell of this and it lingers on my clothes, but not on me. A very expensive mistake, annoyingly.

KimFan · 08/09/2024 19:29

Alien - Thierry Mugler.

GettingStuffed · 08/09/2024 19:33

Killer Queen by Kary Perry
I wore Jennifer Lopez one on Friday and I can still faintly smell it.

SpanielPaws · 08/09/2024 19:40

Cafe Rose - Tom Ford
Libre - YSL (i can smell this on my clothes for days after wearing it)
La Vie Est Belle (perfume not eau de toilette)
Victoria Beckham - I've got the San Ysidro Drive and that really stays.

northchesterforest · 08/09/2024 19:47

Diptyque is the best. And always opt for an EDP over an EDT. Or concentrated oils are good too.

Luluem · 08/09/2024 19:50

Hi - will say that in general perfume lasts better on moisturised skin (as it doesn’t just “flake off” with the dry skin at the top) and some recommend putting Vaseline where you’re going to spray the perfume to help it hold on. But I also echo what PP have said here - I find woody scents longer lasting than citrus, and molecule 01, Chanel le lion or coco (not mademoiselle, just coco) and Tom Ford Santal blush all last forever on me, even without moisturising

Suzuki70 · 08/09/2024 19:51

My longest lasting are both heavy vanilla. Chopard Casmir (from the 90s, it basically smacks you in the nose) and D&G The One.

4160 Tuesdays lasts ages on me. I have Paris 1948.
