Levis jeans: unbelievably comfy

Lentilweaver · 03/09/2024 07:16

I suppose this is hardly shattering news but recently bought some Levis after years of buying M and S and Zara, and they are so much better.

Soft, comfy and the wide leg is not too wide.( I bought a straight leg too). I had mostly given up on jeans in menopause as they just seemed too restrictive and uncomfortable round the middle but these are like wearing elasticated joggers. So glad to get back into jeans.

I only wear Levi's now. I cannot be doing with uncomfortable jeans that don't fit right either.

I just know that they are going to fit me well, it seems I am a good Levi's shape. I have just about every version of ribcage including the wide leg, which are my go to's at the moment.

I bought some Levi wide leg cotton trousers as well, can recommend these too if you are in need of some of those 😃

Lentilweaver · 03/09/2024 14:32

I appear to be a good Levis shape too! I have got the ribcage ones and they fit so well despite the horrid name

I wear the rib cage too and love them. I just ordered the wide leg at the weekend so haven’t had a chance to wear them yet.

Has anyone tried the rib cage bell?

Crucible · 03/09/2024 14:44

Love my Levi's, and the customer service is excellent. Worth every penny.

SocksShmocks · 03/09/2024 14:45

Also love Levi’s and they have plus size on the website which fit me well and I like that they’re not from a plus size brand.

Amazonmulu · 03/09/2024 15:08

Sorry to be so silly but why are they called ribcage jeans?

willsandnoodle · 03/09/2024 15:10

I live in my 501s. I don't have much of a waist so find I'm constantly pulling up any other brand of jeans. I have a few pairs in different colours. Wanting to branch out into different Levi styles but don't know where to start!

High waist just under your rib cage.

SleepyTraveller · 03/09/2024 15:24

I've pretty much lived in 501s (usually the "mens" version, since that fits me best) since my late teens. They're fab, and I wouldn't bother looking at jeans elsewhere really.

Comefromaway · 03/09/2024 15:27

Wait until you try Paige! I'm saving up for a pair.

KirstenBlest · 03/09/2024 15:41

I've got a few pairs of Levi's jeans. They're great but some styles have shallow pockets.

I like Gap and 7 For All Mankind for comfort. I had a pair of Paige ones and they were ok. Not worth £200 though.

Bubblesallaround · 03/09/2024 15:49

I was looking at a pair of the rib cage jeans on Vinted. How is the sizing like? I’m short so need petite and usually wear size 8 in jeans.

melonhead · 03/09/2024 15:51

What Levi's are good for a size 14, middle aged woman with a bit of a tummy, wanting to look like she cares about style to some extent, but also needing to actually breathe and sit down? Asking for me.

Crucible · 03/09/2024 15:57

@melonhead high rise bootcut 725's.

Lentilweaver · 03/09/2024 15:59

@melonhead I am 5'7, size 12, middle aged with a fair bit of menopausal tummy. The Ribcage wide leg and straight leg fit me best and I can sit down properly. I used to wear 501s but my shape has changed.

Also tried the flares but they looked a bit too 70s on me. Can see them looking great on DD though.

@Bubblesallaround I think they are pretty true to size, maybe even a bit generous.

Ok thanks. It was the sizes given in inches that put me off. Guess I’ll have to get the tape measure out to find out which one to get!

Lentilweaver · 03/09/2024 16:17

I wear a waist size 30 for a size 12.

Edited

Same as me, mine are size waist 26 but I also have some in 27 for a slightly looser fit.

Length wise the ribcage straight leg come in 27 and 29 length. The wide leg iirc were only in 32 length (well when I got them anyway) but the shop I bought them do alterations for free.

They are great for the long body club. Which I am just with short legs lol. They balance me out really well.

lindyloo57 · 03/09/2024 16:55

I couldn't do ribcage as I'm short waisted and they would come up to my bra, what style would suit a petite 5ft 2 inbetween a 10 /12

What about the baggy bootcut 94? Or some in the 501 range as they are also mid rise.

I love the look of 501 on others, but they are just too low in the rise for me.

I've been looking for new jeans for the winter, I usually wear a Fatface size 16 bootcut as they are slightly elasticated (and forgiving!) - any tips for finding a Levis equivalent?

KirstenBlest · 03/09/2024 18:02

Fatface jeans are comfortable @Toseland , I'd stick with them. My skinny jeans are from there and I'm planning on wearing them this winter. I wear knee boots and they're easy to tuck in.

The rib cage. Good for holding in a bit of a belly 😂 And no chance of a muffin top because the waistband sits so high. I’ve worn the straight ankle ones until now but I’ve just got the new wide leg version. On me they look like a wider straight leg rather than the full blown baggy trend the young and lithe-of-limb are wearing.

The sizing is a bit unpredictable as it depends on the stretch in the fabric.

Toseland · 03/09/2024 18:19

Thanks @KirstenBlest- yes the Fatface jeans are great 😊

KirstenBlest · 03/09/2024 18:31

@Toseland , I was very pleasantly surprised by them. They keep their stretch well and I can't fault them. I have a lovely pair of Levi's but the side pockets being so small annoy me so I don't wear them much.
The Levi's in the link are very tempting and these look nice and are stretchy.
