Awful green jumpsuit?

user1471867483 · 31/08/2024 13:09

I bought a safari-style jumpsuit similar in colour to this (below) - (this is not the jumpsuit btw). My mum can't stand the colour of it and says because I'm so fair, the colour doesn't suit me. I was thinking of dyeing it. What colour should I dye it to?

Do you know what the fabric is? It doesn't say on the website, but I would venture a guess that it's polyester. You have zero chance of dyeing that jumpsuit jeans blue, trust me.

Agree. The OP has said upthread that it's linen but from the pics it really doesn't look like linen – doesn't drape anything like that fabric and also looks much thicker. It might possibly be a linen mix (with linen just a small percentage of the mix) but it looks much more like a synthetic material. Either way, dying it isn't a good idea as synthetic fabrics don't take dye well at all.

KirstenBlest · 02/09/2024 17:56

@NonsuchCastle , @LuckyAnt , the link in the OP is not to the actual jumpsuit.

If you are a 'summer' colouring then a forest/pine green would go better with your colouring. Or charcoal grey or navy - but I get what people are saying about the dye not giving a true colour over the existing khaki.

I love that colour. But was visibly shocked when the 44.0 % APR popped up on Very's link (realise you have not intimated whatsoever that you are using such an abominable interest rate!

OP doesn't have that jumpsuit from that site - she was just demonstrating the kind of colour .

Everythings 5pounds?

Charity it

KirstenBlest · 02/09/2024 20:43

It's a site selling overstocks @FelixDoublyDelicious .

InfradeadToUltraviolent · 02/09/2024 23:10

It's actually changed its name now and very little of the stuff they sell is as cheap as a fiver any more.

Oh yes, sorry about that.

I go out to town in my pyjamas, The wife really gets annoyed at me ,,my response is ,i wear what i feel comfortable in,,,what do you wear what makes your partner annoyed? What do you think about me wearing my pyjamas to go town?

groovergirl · 03/09/2024 04:59

OP, do YOU like the colour on yourself? If so, wear it, enjoy it, and find some good accessories to flatter your colouring. I'm freckly fair with a slight pink undertone and wear a lot of green. With that yellow-green I'd wear my silk chiffon scarf in pink and deep rose with olive leaves; my Liberty twill scarf in mint, turquoise and caramel; my glass-bead necklace in predominantly red with pale blue, forest green and silver beads. You've picked a good neutral, so have fun with it and ignore your mum's strictures.

I like the colour 🤷🏼‍♀️ and it suits pretty much every skin tone.

I wouldn’t risk dyeing it and ruining it, if you really don’t want to wear it as it is, just put it on Vinted and buy something you like!

It doesn't suit people with winter colouring. I dislike that colour as it makes me look washed out. However, it would suit DD.

That's lovely but it would be a nightmare to iron being 100% cotton.

It is!

As long as you're clothed, who cares.

I love that colour. It’s more interesting than basic green.

I agree. Do you think it looks okay OP? That's all that matters, you're the one wearing it, not your mum.

Redlettuce · 03/09/2024 08:57

Are you living at home? If not then just wear it on days you're not seeing your Mum!

It was from everything5pounds.com.

I buy a few bits from there, I never know where things are from, how did you work it out, I've reverse searched things and never had any luck finding out.

I just received an order from them y'day. I ordered three dresses (£3.30 each). I like two of them but not one of them. I usually give to charity what I don't like as it's not worth sending back for a refund.

It's very hit and miss isn't it. I've got a couple of dresses coming today that were £3ish too.
Have you seen that they've rebranded and prices have gone up a lot!

It certainly is. They need to change the company name as nothing is £5 any more.

Oh nice - are they summer dresses/winter?

Most of my wardrobe is that colour, I have fair skin. I don’t listen to fashion advice from my mother 😬
