Which nails look classiest for holidays?

I always struggle picking what nails to have!

One thing is I don't like them to look tacky - which design looks classiest?

I much prefer the French manicure look, the first one is too talon-like for my liking

Both would look lovely with a tan/golden glow (however this is achieved!)

Just personal preference, I much prefer to keep my nails on the short side!

Fake tan is not classy

Sweetteaplease · 23/08/2024 10:00

The shorter ones. The other ones are too pointy and loom fake

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 23/08/2024 10:10

I cancelled my nail appointment and went on holiday with natural, naked nails. It was the best thing I've ever done for my nails. They got loads of vitamin D and I've come home with nails in the best condition they've been in for months!

I think nail shape really needs to take finger width/length into account. Mine definitely suit squoval over almond/pointed. One style doesn't suit all.

Yes, this is true. And actual nail shape and size too

DancingNotDrowning · 23/08/2024 10:43

French tips are naff and the polar opposite of classy. They look cheap

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 22/08/2024 22:04

I prefer something like this

Classy looking is shorter. Long and pointy is not classy.

LoneHydrangea · 23/08/2024 10:47

Those pointy ones are an abomination. Only OK if you have massive fake lashes and powder brows to go with them.

A squoval shape is much classier. I’m not a fan of the French tip look though.

jonesybonesy · 23/08/2024 10:53

Definitely not the first picture- ombré and long aren't classy. The shorter nails some of the others have posted are nice.
Naked nails are horrible too, despite pp's saying otherwise. They're too manual labour looking for me.

luckylavender · 23/08/2024 15:16

Pointy ones not classy. French better

bryceQ · 23/08/2024 15:23

It just goes to show that everyone has different taste. I'm really not a fan of classic French tips, it looks quite dated to me. I see lots of people near me with the ombre style. I guess it all depends on your definition of "classy"

puppyparent · 22/08/2024 23:26

Tbh if you are looking for class then just keep your own natural nails healthy and well groomed and steer clear of acrylics and gels altogether.

This.

The horrid thick long pointy or square ones don't look classy at all.

Although square is less naff than pointy.

I just think how much grime is under those nails 🤢

twentysevendresses · 23/08/2024 15:34

What did you go for in the end OP?

Pointy is never classy.

This ! 100 percent

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 23/08/2024 16:46

If you’re wanting classy I’d say the shorter ones. The pointy ones are more glamorous rather than classy which isn’t a bad thing either, of course.

Spybot · 23/08/2024 21:12

First photo, I love that style and they elongate the fingers.

kiuy · 23/08/2024 21:19

nicest nails I've been seen are on friends who have their own nails which they look after, filing them down nicely and a nice short length with a natural varnish. You can't improve on natural
nails/hair/eyelashes.

Speaking as someone whose nails have developed ridges and bumps as I’ve got older, I think you can improve on nature. I agree that short and naturally shaped nails are better than obvious points or tips.

mitogoshi · 24/08/2024 07:09

Have what makes you happy - you make sure they aren't too long, damage easier (I regularly have cut mine off accidentally cooking if I let them get too long. I like classic red nail's myself

Pointy never, ever look classy. They scream tacky acrylic extensions.

Hucklemuckle · 24/08/2024 18:59

PilgorTheGoat · 22/08/2024 22:01

I think square tips look a bit naff these days x

Not when they are short like in the picture.
If you have short nails they have to be pretty square-oval

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 24/08/2024 19:46

Otterock · 23/08/2024 09:37

I personally prefer short and polished like this

Yes I love these. Hate pointy nails!

notaurewhatusername · 26/08/2024 14:49

A quick update, I decided to take them all off! May nails currently are natural not even nail polish on them. However sadly, as I've been having BIAB for a year with no break they look pretty awful.

I've ordered some Nails inc oil and clear nail polish and then I'm going to review things in a couple of weeks which is when I go on holiday.

Depending how they look, I think I might apply a nail polish colour and get a manicure and gel on my toes.

I've decided I think natural is best, I might be pushed to just do gel one more time for hols no BIAB. We'll see.
