Best flip flops with arch support?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 18/08/2024 16:34

As I’m getting older I’m finding that I get knee pain if I wear standard, flat flip flops so I’m looking for something with a bit of arch support.

I’ve seen FitFlops and Archie’s footwear.

Does anyone have any experience of either of these or can suggest another similar brand?

I love my fitflops - had them for years and they're so comfortable. Haven't tried Archies.

hidethexylophone · 18/08/2024 16:55

I've tried both - both are better than regular flip flops, but I much prefer the archies from a support perspective. I imagine it may well come down to the shape of your feet though. I find the arch support bit in the fit flops isn't quite in the right place for my very high arches, but is in the right place in the archies.

I love my fit flops. Haven't tried Archies. You probably need to trial both to see which suit.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 18/08/2024 17:44

I’ve not seen Archies anywhere to try on. The arch support in the FitFlops that I tried on did feel in an odd position but I thought I’d just have to get used to it.

I really like Archies (haven't tried fitflops)

Weirdaf1 · 18/08/2024 17:48

I need arch support. I love Fitflop trainers but I can't wear the flip flops at all. They just don't seem to support my feet in the right places.n

On me the arch support in fit flops is perfect. I wouldn't settle for second best. Have you tried looking for Archies on Ebay?

Icedlatteplease · 18/08/2024 17:49

Crocs!!!

Weirdaf1 · 18/08/2024 17:50

They don't have arch support but I find the Crocs flip flops very comfortable. They suit my wide feet too.

Wakemeuuuup · 18/08/2024 17:53

I have archies flip flops and think they're great. Have tried fit flops

KnottyKnitting · 18/08/2024 18:24

I have some Sketchers go walk flip flops which are very supportive and very comfortable. ( I too have creaky knees!)

Eminybob · 18/08/2024 18:29

I have archies and they are very comfortable for my plantar faciitis prone feet.
They did take a bit of wearing in though, the first couple of wears I felt like my arches were bruised afterwards while the sole molded to my shape.

nowtygaffer · 18/08/2024 18:45

I have the crocs flip flops and love them. My DH brought back some Archies from Australia but they are really heavy. He's gone back to his crocs!

DrLucyVanPelt · 18/08/2024 18:47

Another vote for crocs. Had some for recent hols and lived in them, so comfortable!

Isabelle70 · 18/08/2024 20:01

I have the FitFlop iqushion 2 buckle sandals and they are perfect, a bit stiff to start with but once the foam/rubber has been worn a few times they soften up. I wore them all round Paris and Versailles in June with no issues.

AnotherEmma · 18/08/2024 20:04

Love my Archies flip flops. I have plantar fasciitis and can't walk around barefoot so I wear them around the house in summer (when it's too hot for slippers or trainers). They are comfortable and supportive.

TeabySea · 18/08/2024 20:05

Back door shoes do clogs and flip flops with an arch support. I wear mine loads to help with plantar fasciitis.

NowYouSee · 18/08/2024 20:07

My go to is the plastic Birkenstocks Arizona. They come in 2 widths.

Purplecatshopaholic · 18/08/2024 20:22

i love FitFlops, they were a game changer for me

Danniotley · 18/08/2024 20:23

I have plantar fasciitis and have had fit flops, sketchers, Birkenstocks and Archie’s. Archie’s are without a doubt the best. I have both the flip flops and the sliders and can walk for miles in them with no pain.

Lastarse · 18/08/2024 22:09

I wear Hoka recovery flip flops - they seem supportive although colour choices atm are just orange or black.

LaWench · 18/08/2024 22:14

Crocs flip flops, comfiest ever and supportive. Mine are years old and my feet didn't ache after Disneyworld (20k steps a day)

Fiftyfiveandcounting · 18/08/2024 23:24

Archie’s flip flops and sliders here and can confirm they are really supportive and probably the most comfortable I’ve tried. They’re expensive but worth it for me.

Cantonet · 19/08/2024 10:57

I always wear Vionic flipflops as they have such good arch support.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 19/08/2024 14:05

I love FitFlops, a friend swears by Vionic. I think it depends on how badly you need the arch support. Unfortunately, trying on in store doesn't really help as you'll only know once you've worn them for a while.
