Too much green?

DeclansAFeckingDream · 12/08/2024 17:13

I have a wedding in a couple of months and have a bottle green dress for it. I don't want to wear a headpiece or anything - I have short hair and they're really not me. Would these earrings and necklace be too much green? I'm told matching colours are the way to go, but I don't want to be too much, although the jewellery itself isn't huge. Any pointers to anything better would be appreciated, I don't have a huge budget so 'real' stones are out for me.

I don’t think it’s too green, but it is a bit matchy. The earrings with a plain gold necklace?

DeclansAFeckingDream · 12/08/2024 17:23

Yep, that might be better, I want gold because it goes better with my colouring and I think with the green too.

Beautiful earrings. I’d also go with a plain gold necklace.

skippy67 · 12/08/2024 17:35

I have earrings from reliable which have tarnished horribly.

DeclansAFeckingDream · 12/08/2024 18:18

Do you mean Orelia @skippy67 ? That would put me off a bit. They're not expensive but I'd want to wear them more than once!

OP posts:
FayCarew · 12/08/2024 18:24

They look pretty. Don't wear them for more than a day at a time and you should be fine.

GreatDarkWing · 12/08/2024 18:40

With a dark green dress you could go for tortoiseshell, amber or wooden jewellery, or maybe bronze - do you have shoes and a bag in mind?

Cheesyfootballs01 · 12/08/2024 21:38

I have a pair of gold swarvorski huggie hoops from Orelia and they are lovely, no tarnishing.

They are 18c gold plated.

johann12 · 12/08/2024 22:20

I think it might be. I would advise a pearly colour, close to slightly grey-ish water droplets as you can find

NonsuchCastle · 13/08/2024 03:44

Yes to the green earrings, but plain gold necklace.

NancyBellaDonna · 13/08/2024 07:12

Lovely earrings - will match perfectly. Go for a plain necklace but the style of necklace depends on the neckline of the dress. ie pendant necklace is lost in a v-neck. What about a choker style?

I know you didn't want to do headpieces but on the webpage you linked to with the earrings there is the most gorgeous embroidered bottle green Alice band. Not you?

Can we see the frock?

This is the dress, it's quite plain but I don't really like fussy.

They look pretty. Don't wear them for more than a day at a time and you should be fine.

Also don't wear them until after your perfume and hairspray have dried.

Mumofoneandone · 13/08/2024 11:48

Matching earrings and necklace are fine, but on this occasion, I think earrings only would probably work better with that neck line. Maybe some bigger ones too - more dramatic!;

TragicMuse · 13/08/2024 11:53

Matching jewellery is fine. There's a reason why you can buy sets/a parure of jewellery...

I don't think those earrings and necklace are wrong at all, but check the necklace length on the dress, it might get lost. If you love it and could wear it with other things I'd ask a jeweller to add another ring along the chain so you can wear it at a shorter length for the dress.

youngestisapsycho · 13/08/2024 12:02

After seeing the dress, I would go longer earrings and no necklace.

FayCarew · 13/08/2024 12:40

The dress is beautiful, @DeclansAFeckingDream . Agree with bold earrings and no necklace.

Purplecatshopaholic · 13/08/2024 12:49

Awesome dress! I agree, I’d go longer dangly earrings and no necklace.

SulkySeagull · 13/08/2024 15:32

I love those earrings! I’ve got loads of bits from Orelia and generally they don’t tarnish unless they get wet. I think fine for an occasion.

DeclansAFeckingDream · 13/08/2024 16:44

Thank you all, I'll take your advice and hunt for some longer earrings and forget the necklace. 😊

OP posts:
CactusPeach · 13/08/2024 17:18

I'd wear the earrings and a plain gold necklace because I don't like too matchy matchy. With that particular dress, it would be a plain gold chain or one with multiple pendants so the shape is a gentle curve rather than the v-shape of a pendant. No necklace would also work

Madamblueshoes · 13/08/2024 17:53

I went to a wedding a month or so ago and someone was wearing a bottle green dress similar to yours. She wore a gold/diamond necklace and drop diamond (or not diamonds!) earrings and looked amazing. I really love your dress - it's so chic!

NancyBellaDonna · 13/08/2024 18:49

The dress is beautiful and very classy.

Is the clasp gold coloured? Any jewellery should match the colour of the metal. Bold earrings but a necklace is unnecessary.

I see the model is wearing gold shoes and they look fab. If it's October you might need something to cover your shoulders - a little fur cape maybe. You might find something like that on Vinted.
What type of bag are you going for?

Illegally18 · 13/08/2024 19:07

The dress is beautiful. Why not wear something white and pearly? Green and white are so beautiful together, and the pearl will soften the green.
