I need a large bag like a Longchamp Pliage

But larger! Not to replace a suitcase but to put all my things I need for the plane - passports, magazines, toiletries, flip flops, headrest etc. I've tried using my large Pliage on the plane but it isn't quite big enough. I'd like something durable and well-made

This one has a strap, but it's a bit pricey

Ooo @reallywhywouldyou that’s lovely! I use a Le Pliage Neo on the plane, but would like that for the gym.

I bought a custom Le Pliage years ago when I was travelling a lot. I chose the short handles because I was only toting it to car/hotel.

I've just bought this little converter kit to turn it into a shoulder/crossbody. Works really well I use it every week now for taking DD swimming.

This is genius!

@reallywhywouldyou does it have a shoulder strap?

I am coveting it...

If you go on the Longchamp site you can bespoke your bag and get it made up a shoulder strap.

This is a very big bag though. I use it for weekends away.

Herve Chapelier? Bit less conspicuous than Longchamp.

Ooh I love these!

What stops the fitting piece from sliding up the handles?

I have a Brics tote which is similar to Le Pliage. It's super light and has worn really well. Alongside the totes they do a number of travel bags that might with for you. https://www.wardow.com/brics/

Everlane Renew Weekender is what you want.

Perfect carry on luggage, looks stylish, comfy shoulder strap, and even has the super helpful sleeve thing that you can loop over the handle of a wheelie suitcase. I love mine!

Have you looked at Beis ? The weekended , for instance , is great , as well as the backpack . Really clever bags with lots of clever features , for instance a strap on the back to recurve on top of a suitcase , and the backpack fully opens up .

There are some videos on YouTube that show you how this works

I got a fab bag from Boden last year which is a little bigger than my Pliage and has been solid on numerous trips. I got the red geo but they seem to have the green stripe still and maybe others.

Alifemadelessordinary thanks for that, I have one of those I was given as a gift but I don’t use it due to no long strap. I also have a small one with my on holiday that I bought myself with my redundancy money earlier this year.

I love this one by Frida Rome, it just seemed way too big for me.

Isn't it? I have a few of their purses, great quality and no animals harmed in the process. Really struggling not to buy this one.

Thank you for this recommendation. They have site wide 30% off too!

@ElleWoods15 another thanks, great bag I didn’t know I needed … ordered!

WantingMoreCareer · 28/07/2024 21:56

LV GM neverfull. Get one secondhand. I’ve had one about 10 years now bough preloved. It’s been dragged around the world, nappy bag, beach bag, laptop and files. Absolute work horse. Cost per wear is probably about 2p.

chocopuffs · 29/07/2024 06:28

Have you tried the Pliage XL? They also do a travel version with a strap - I'll try to find the model but it's heavier weight and looks similar to a BRICS style bag. I'm about to use mine in place of a small suitcase...

I’ve got a couple of these:

And I highly recommend. Very light, roomy, stylish.

I was coming on to recommend this too, I have a couple. You can also fit an outfit in on a coat hanger for car journeys.

RampantIvy · 29/07/2024 08:59

I really like the look of that bag @Restricting
I could use that to take my laptop to work as well. What material is the one you have?

Crucible · 29/07/2024 09:08

I have a MiaTui handbag and it's gorgeous. Really well designed. Can generally recommend and I am not a bag person.

bettytaghetti · 29/07/2024 09:21

Awaytravel.com have 3 sizes of duffel bags that fit over a a suitcase handle too. I don't personally have any of these as I just use a Goyard St Louis, but love their carry on sized suitcases, so presume they're of a similar quality.
