I need a large bag like a Longchamp Pliage

But larger! Not to replace a suitcase but to put all my things I need for the plane - passports, magazines, toiletries, flip flops, headrest etc. I've tried using my large Pliage on the plane but it isn't quite big enough. I'd like something durable and well-made

I love this but would need a shoulder strap. I will try to find out if it comes with one. Reading the reviews, I am amazed that one person managed to pack everything for a ten-day trip in it. That person is not me! I wish I was a light packer but I don't think a leopard can change their spots...

You certainly get what you pay for with Longchamp. This is a very clever design.

I have this. https://miatui.com/collections/travel-bags/products/jennie-travel-bag
It's perfect on a flight, lots of inside and outside pockets, really spacious inside and can slide onto the handle of your suitcase.

These bags seem to be well-reviewed. I like all the internal compartments. Definitely a contender.

Is the Longchamps Boxford small enough to take as cabin luggage? I do like my travel pliage but a strap would make it even better. DD uses a pliage for university and we were talking about larger ones today - I like the look of the Boxford!

I have several Mia tui bags

they are great for travelling

they do one called the Lenny which is a travel / hold all

I have 2 Jenny’s black croc / and a silver one had them both for at least two years and they are as good as new
they have individual pockets for phone's/ passports / glasses cases / water bottles
and they have a pocket that means they slide over suitcase handles

customer service is first class

ive got several of the smaller ones as well and they are equally as good

Ive also got a few mulberry handbags and several Longchamp pillage bags in various sizes and I hate the fact that you have to search for stuff in them as they have no compartments

the Mia Tui bags beat them all hands down and I use my Jenny and Jane every day 😂

I have lots of Le Pliages and I love them for every day handbag use. I also have the travel one without the shoulder strap- but it is a pain to be honest given it doesn’t have the strap. Last year I bought a Mia Tui bag for travelling and it’s huge with loads of pockets so that is what I use these days. A bit like PP, once I discovered it, I went back and bought a few things including bags as presents for other people and also some practical transparent travel pouch things which are great for holding toiletries.

Just looked on their website, it’s the “Falmouth” I have (from memory I bought it after seeing it recommended on here), but it looks to be all sold out. Maybe it’s been discontinued.

Herve Chapelier? Bit less conspicuous than Longchamp.

I have had the Boxford for years now. It's a great weekend bag for throwing in the car, but it's quite big for a carry-on. It would be small enough for cabin size dimensions, but way too big to use as the OP wants as a bag for plane tickets, pillow, magazines etc rather than to replace cabin sized luggage. I'm not sure an airline would let you carry this and a cabin-sized suitcase onto the plane.

And I highly recommend. Very light, roomy, stylish.

Can I ash which Mia Tui you got for travelling as I don't think the Jenny dimensions would be big enough for me

There is one that I have called Lenny that’s a large travel bag but it’s not got any of the compartments inside it
& im not sure if they do it any more

but they do have a Facebook page that people resell on so you might find one on there

Cornflakelover · 28/07/2024 00:21

Currently in my Jenny
I have my large mulberry Bayswater purse & my mini iPad in the middle main section

Portable charger & 2 phones in the side section
Large mia tui make up bag in the largest side compartment

smaller Mia tui make up bag with lipsticks /tablets in smaller side compartment

sunglasss in a case In glasses compartment

there would be plenty of room for passports / magazine

I don’t normally have iPad and generally just the one phone but I’ve been out all day

I have the Kipling Art tote, which is a travel bag, and has the zipped compartment to slide over the handles of a suitcase. It's light to carry, bigger than the Longchamp, but not too big. It's durable, can fling it about and it look smart, fabric with long shoulder straps. Around £100.

TheLastTimeEver · 28/07/2024 00:45

Slightly mesmerised by the MIA Tua website that looks like it’s from 2002

HucklefinBerry · 28/07/2024 01:39

@MrsMitford3

@reallywhywouldyou does it have a shoulder strap?

I am coveting it...
They used to do a customisable leather pliage. I got 3 XL with shoulder straps. They are my regular go to for beach / pool holidays

I fear when they wear out I will never find anything as good

I've the same one for travelling. It's so durable and light and does come with a shoulder strap as well as the carry handles.

I also have an oundle weekend bag from Sophie Allport, which is actually a little bigger but more casual. I use it for transporting all my work bits and pieces as I have a lot of stuff I have to cart around.

BananaLambo · 28/07/2024 05:53

I have this in all black and it works brilliantly. Perfectly usable zipped or unzipped and easy to convert from one to the other. Lightweight. Comfortable and sturdy shoulder strap. Looks great.

Hi like I said on my subsequent post it is called “Falmouth” - it’s huge, I bought it after seeing it recommended on Mumsnet, however after posting this last night I looked on their Facebook site and apparently it’s been discontinued. Boo! Shame as it’s a really practical bag.

Horrible. They look like they are made from pleather

Parsipsnoup · 28/07/2024 07:25

This has been such a helpful thread as it reminded me I need something similar. Much as I love the leather shopper I have, I like to be able to go hands-free in airports.

I’ve landed on this which has everything I want including a crossbody strap and ability to fit over suitcase handles.

(I live down under and not sure if it’s available in the UK/Europe. Does look like they have a North America site so maybe UK/Europe is coming).

I bought a custom Le Pliage years ago when I was travelling a lot. I chose the short handles because I was only toting it to car/hotel.

I've just bought this little converter kit to turn it into a shoulder/crossbody. Works really well I use it every week now for taking DD swimming.
