Ah, ok - Friday night out with friends?

The first is too underwhelming - it’s running into Tesco or entertaining kids in the garden wear.

The second is Way Too Shiny!

There are millions of other choices.

However. If I were in my 50s <shakes memory box> and needing ‘out with friends’ clothes this year, I’d be looking for co ords, not a jumpsuit.

Something like this, with the trousers:

Or maybe this sort of thing:

Umm, thanks but that really does look like pyjamas!

(Yes … Because that’s what’s fashionable at the moment!)

LateMumma · 24/07/2024 11:38

I'm quite casual and in early 50s. I love the Lucy and yak raglan jumpsuit, I've got it in denim and black - very flattering and easy to dress up or down.

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 24/07/2024 11:38

This shape looks good on me and I'm a bit shorter and bigger than you. I see no reason why it wouldn't look good on anybody as long as it's a good fit on the top half, with no danger of wardrobe malfunctions! And I like the print.

GettingStuffed · 24/07/2024 11:46

I like the shape but not the print. I think this is far better

I just bought this one from The White Company. Possibly a bit plain, will be dressing up with accessories. Revere Cotton Blend Collar Jumpsuit | Dresses & Jumpsuits | The White Company UK

The Cos ones are rather too fashon forward for me,

I'd look like a garage mechanic in that....

phase 8 jumpsuit

I bought this one then returned it as it was just a bit much for me for a Friday night out with friends. But maybe it's better?

The one in my first post - the fabric is a nice viscose and the colours suit me.

Edited

It's cotton

The green one looks too dressy

Not sure “nice” and “viscose” can be used in the same sentence… natural fibres look much classier.

My mistake it's cotton.

Verite1 · 24/07/2024 14:11

I'm not keen on either of your choices I'm afraid. Nor the Kaffe one posted upthread. I'm sure you can do better. Have you looked at Whistles? I haven't checked recently but they used to always do nice jumpsuits. Only ones I have ever bought have been from there.

I probably will too! Not received it yet. But I wanted to wear it for a work event.

RaspberryBeretxx · 24/07/2024 14:23

I quite like it OP, I think you'd have to try it on and see how it fits. It looks like it could add a bit of bulk (unlike the sleeker Phase Eight one although can see what you mean that it's a bit too dressy).

I like some of the sugar hill brighton ones: https://www.sugarhillbrighton.com/search?type=product%2Cpage&options%5Bprefix%5D=last&q=jumpsuit

They have some nice ones on this site like: https://thisisunfolded.com/products/rachel-sustainable-sleeveless-jumpsuit-white-c7
But unfortunately lots of the lovely ones are out of stock so don't show up on a search of the site eg I really like: https://thisisunfolded.com/products/bex-jumpsuit-1

I like some on Oliver Bonas too - not sure if any of them appeal? www.oliverbonas.com/search/jumpsuit

If the green suits you, you can snap up this for £25, currently in the sale. I have it and it’s flattering and comfortable. Back zip but I’ve found no issues getting trapped in it at inconvenient moments:

haha yes it does! if that’s fashionable, I’ll pass too.

I like the first one you posted. I always feel a bit self conscious in my jump suits anyway, so I like them to be slightly understated and a nice soft shape.

BigDahliaFan · 24/07/2024 16:05

I think I look nice in it - once I've dug out some sandals to wear with it.

The women I'm going out with, one is stylish, one is just beautiful and could be wearing anything and will look fabulous and the other one is, well, eclectic. So I don't think I'll stand out!

I think I agree with you on the whole - it's probably worth a thread of its own - but it can be hard to find things in cotton or linen. (though the original jumpsuit is cotton).

And not all viscose feels or looks horrible. It's made from wood pulp....

I am small-busted, so not best placed to answer - there’s definitely room for more in there but I wouldn’t say it’s generous. The jersey is thick enough not to look super-clingy, but it sounds like you might fill it out a bit more than me (slightly jealous!)

Joe Browns do free returns now so no harm in ordering one for trying on. I love mine (it comes in petite length too if that’s relevant)

KirstenBlest · 24/07/2024 16:41

@rookiemere , I have something in that green and I always get positive comments about the colour.

floppybit · 24/07/2024 16:44

I really like it, and I consider myself quite stylish.

Goodluckanddontfitup · 24/07/2024 18:01

I really like your original choice for what it’s worth
