Is there such a thing as a comfortable bra?

If so, please tell me about it! I am so fed up with trying out new styles that feel comfortable enough when I try them on… but which I’m ready to rip off by lunch time. Underwired bras I find hellish, non-wired styles end up riding up so that the band digs in - and the support isn’t great.

I’ve been for a fitting and was recommended a style that felt too tight in the end. I never used to find bras so unbearable, I’m so conscious of them now! Perhaps it’s a menopausal thing.

I’m size 34D. Please share your best bra tips!

I like Elomi. For me, it is the only brand where the underwires sit flat against my ribs (which is what they are supposed to do if they fit correctly) and encompass the entire underboob. Their sports bra is extremely comfortable too.

DressOrSkirt · 22/07/2024 18:15

No, only bralettes IMO, and even those only get worn outside the house. I don't know what bra size I am as I've put on weight since I last bought one, but was 34F so not small.

HollyGolightly4 · 22/07/2024 18:30

@Dancingqueen18 I can't recommend snag enough.

M&S Flexifit underwired is my most comfortable bra ever.
But do get a bra fitting at M&S first.

No, don't get fitted at M and S Shock

They know nothing about correctly measuring for bras. They still use the old fashioned and incorrect add four inches method. This is why so many women are wearing the wrong sized bra.

I buy bras from M and S but I have had a professional bra fitting at an independent lingerie shop.

@StarOfTheNorth If the back is riding up then the band size is too big. If you live in the Sheffield or Huddersfield area I can recommend an excellent indpendent shop for bras.

Frosty1000 · 22/07/2024 18:33

Fellow D cup here and m and s t shirt bras (3 pack for £20) are very supportive, comfy and don't dig in.

MartyFunkhouser · 22/07/2024 18:34

I’m a 32E and have loads of Bravissimo Millie bras. I find them really comfortable.

butteredparsnip · 22/07/2024 18:34

Another vote for M&S flexifit. I have had the wired and unwired ones and they are so comfy and reasonably supportive.

anon666 · 22/07/2024 18:38

I'm the same. Mind you, 38H.

Underwired are painful. Non underwired push my boob's together and create a sweaty cleavage.

Never found an answer.

Landlubber2019 · 22/07/2024 18:59

Another snag fan here, normally I would be a 38gg but I wear a size 5. So comfortable and I binned all but 1 underwired bra, which I have not worn !!!!

I can’t stand this either! I wonder, is it possible to keep your breasts apart without an underwire style? This is my mission… plus comfort of course!
I live quite near Swindon but I guess I’m not going to track down your favourite 😅

Bravissimo Nova but go up a back size from what the fitters put you into. I didn't and am still using a bra extender a year after buying them. So much for "they loosen with age".

I had a fitting last week, up three cup sizes and down a band size. The band is tight. The person fitting it said it would give and it may well do. In the meantime I’m fastening it on the third hook set rather than the first (which the person fitting it used).

It is so much better on the third for now and the cup size is great.

Is that an option for you? The hook position.

I don’t think it matters where you had it fitted to be honest, there’s good and bad fitters everywhere.

You are meant to start on the loosest hooks and go in as the bra stretches out.

midgetastic · 22/07/2024 19:07

Molke original does keep things separate and is comfortable and no wires

Solitaire123 · 22/07/2024 19:15

I find the M&S flexi-fit non-wired the most comfortable if I have to leave the house. At home it's M&S crop tops. Thinking of trying Sainsbury's Tu crop tops too now after the positve comments on this thread.

RaraRachael · 22/07/2024 19:20

M and S Flexifit bras. Around £22, non-wired and suitable for big boobs. They're the first I've found that are actually comfy to wear all day, having spent a fortune at Bravissimo and finding that the bra I was measured for was awful when worn for any length of time.

mzdemeanour · 22/07/2024 19:33

These www.marksandspencer.com/al/lace-non-padded-bralette-f-h/p/P60451802.html are the only wireless bras that don't give me monoboob. You can often find them on ebay.

Bemusedandconfusedagain · 22/07/2024 20:00

I tried Molke and was so disappointed. Wriggling into the bloody thing was a nightmare and it shows with a lot of clothes. Perhaps I'd have got on with it better if I'd gone for one that does up.

GingerPirate · 22/07/2024 20:00

Idk...
34E here and still looking 🙄

Clarityiskey · 22/07/2024 20:07

For 'proper' bras I find No1 bras the most comfy. Plus they're very helpful on the phone.

If there is, I've yet to find it. Watching this thread with interest!

Babbahabba · 22/07/2024 21:50

@swapcicles I agree! I hate tight bras! Boobs or bust I'm a 32 something but my favourite size is 34E. Can't stand being constricted and 32 bands just give me back fat spillage 🤣

Grapewrath · 22/07/2024 22:11

i only wear bralettes now, I can’t stand bras. The Calvin Klein ones are my favourite. I’m a small boob girl though

Jeannie88 · 22/07/2024 22:14

No, maybe the pull on ones at best but otherwise no, i hate wearing bras!

IlovetoKnitandRead · 22/07/2024 22:30

Snag bras here too. They are the only ones that I wear and forget that I have a bra on!

FinallyHere · 22/07/2024 22:32

We are all so different, the only way forward for me was a proper fitting.

Rigby and Peller

Even better if you can find a local independent, I just factor in taking a days holiday and travelling into London any time I've lost (or gained) so much that I need a different size. And having the straps set properly.

How you find what you need

torwen · 22/07/2024 22:42

Bralisse, expensive but life changing for me . Finally have separation without underwire. 38gg
