Driving over Queensferry Crossing today and I passed Col. Cruachan on his way back from Balmoral, I'm guessing his usual base is at Edinburgh Castle, but actually I'm not sure. Anyway he was in a very natty horse box with his photo plastered all over.

Didn't CPV have severe health issues in her late teens/early 20s which may have affected her going into the military? I remember the Swedish palace taking the rare step of announcing that she had pulled out of her Uni place at Uppsala (like Oxbridge in Sweden) because of anorexia. I think she went to Yale (where no one knew who she was) and then did a series of practical placements based in Swedish Embassies.

Yes I think that would have factored into it too.

I think there are certainly pros to undertaking such study as an older, more experienced person, too. Not to say there aren't pros to doing so in one's youth.

Mary's blue mesh shoes are $800 Jimmy Choo's and the unhemmed skirt costs over $700. I wonder what her clothes budget is and, assuming she buys all the items she wears, what happens to them afterwards?

She certainly re-wears quite routinely so I expect pieces like these stay in rotation for day-to-day work, and even when she's at home as well. Not the shoes, obviously. But clothing that isn't too dressy is likely used fairly often. She does work outside of public appearances.

In 2022 Fred and Mary, then Crown Prince and Princess, received a stipend of somewhere in the region of £2,500,000. It was officially paid to Fred but of that a certain amount was earmarked for Mary. In 2022 this amount came to around £250,000.

I have read that Mary passes on some clothes to a second hand outlet in Copenhagen.

But which second hand outlet is the big question!

£250k a year. Wow. I don't know about Danish tax but in the UK someone on £450k salary would end up with £250k post tax. Presumably the £2.25m Fred gets pays the household expenses and Mary's £250k is her 'spending money'.

Fred looks so totally uncomfortable in his role as king. He just looks like he's bored.

Yes I believe they are. Mary was given them by Daisy for her 50th birthday IIRC.
