I think the Mail said it was something to do with Sweden joining NATO.

Oh no, sorry, don’t think her doing the training is actually anything to do with Sweden joining NATO.
It said she did a three week basic military training course in 2003 and this course is to help prepare her for her future role as head of state. Not sure how long this course is.
Leonor’s is three YEARS though!

Nothing to do with NATO as far as I'm aware. She will be Head of State so it makes sense. Victoria's previous education focused on other aspects so I guess she's focusing on this now. Maybe she just wasn't particularly interested as a young woman and it was thought best to let her have her own life where possible at the time. It's a 20 month course.

Mary is wearing a long cardigan/gilet type thing.

The outfit with the trousers was for a hike she and Fred did.

It's my observation that certain hot equerries seem to look much hotter when dressed in a certain traditional attire.

Yes, shame Johnny no longer wears it as often since he's usually in a suit.

I feel bad for the King's new/current equerry pictured above; he doesn't get the same love.

I really like Charles' outfit. It's nice to have our own snappy dresser to rival Felipe.

Fred and Mary have arrived at Ærø.

Charles' tailor is reputedly Anderson & Sheppard of Savile Row. Lady Di introduced him to them in the 80s to sharpen up his image a bit. There's a Rest of History episode about the history of Savile Row and the suit which covers this and a lot of other stuff.

A kilt helps any man. DH is Scottish, so I may be a bit biased

Not sure about Mary’s skirt. It looks like that awful fleshy colour that I personally can’t stand. In the one of them side by side, Fred looks like he’s the close protection 😆

I was reading that Copenhagen Fashion Week had lots of mesh ballet shoes, so may be that's it. But heels, because Queen.
