Strapless bra for big boobs?

I know this is probably this is asking the impossible but can anybody recommend a strapless bra is a 38DD that 1) doesn’t feel like armoury around by boobs 2) does a vaguely ok job of holding them up for a couple of hours and a decent-ish shape

As far as I’m concerned, there’s no such thing; I’m a 36F and tried many. It’s a case of straps showing (get a bra with pretty ones) or going “free range”; my option in the hot weather when not at work.

Colinorpercy · 19/07/2024 08:10

I stopped buying clothes that would require a strapless bra a long time ago as could never find one that did the job. I hate overly padded ones as they just make my boobs look even bigger but ones without padding aren’t supportive. Sorry I’m not helping but also keen to see if anyone else has a holy grail they suggest!

CissOff · 19/07/2024 09:03

Thanks both.

I think I’m reaching the same conclusion. None of my dresses are bandeau or strapless thankfully, more a slight halter neck.

Maybe I’ll just stick to a pretty bra rather than buy (and fail to return) endless strapless bras.

I daren’t go free range in public 😂

I found the Elomi smooth one is quite a marvel of engineering, think Bravissimo stock them but I bought mine online direct on the elomi site.

That wonderbra pne with the plastic hands in is the best. I think it’s called ultimate strapless.

for a flatter shape I like the panache porcelain strapless.

Are you definitely a 38dd? That’s more a wide back than big heavy breasts. Have you been Bravissimo-ed?!

Campingholidays · 19/07/2024 17:09

I’ve had this problem and been through loads of different strapless bras - Fantasie strapless was probably the most comfortable. However, I was extremely brave a few months ago and let a friend talk me into tit bunnies…the sticky covers with bunny ears - those with a bit of additional tape were an absolute miracle - and I have bigger boobs than you!

Buy some non slip elastic ( it has silicone ) sew into top of bra cups on a bra you have.
I'm huge like a 46 HH and worked for me. See attached photo.

P.S also sew all way round top of bra band.

Doggymummar · 19/07/2024 17:17

34hh and never found one yet

Quitelikeacatslife · 19/07/2024 17:23

Go for a multi-way bra instead for halter neck, bandeau only for holiday with swimsuit and then not for walking far. I've bought ones before that seem ok but get uncomfortable after a short time

LizzeyBenett · 19/07/2024 17:23

I got the wonder bra a hot few years back it was ok but nothing strapless will ever hold them up they way I want them to be in order for them to look good in clothes . I'd actually be more inclined to tape them like Kim k does if I needed to , but I'll probably never need to as I just don't buy anything that requires a strapless bra

Shuttheblinds · 19/07/2024 19:00

Somebody on here mentioned one from Amazon, I wish I could remember it because I have never found a good one. They said they tried so many on for their wedding and the Amazon one was really good.

I think I have big boobs and a wide back - sometimes a DD doesn’t fit so I go to up and E.

I should probably do boob or bust to check but my rib cage has been so much wider since I had my Dc. It never went back (and I’m fatter!)

Bunny ears?? I’m off to google that and the tape 😂

38DD isn’t particularly big in the cup, only 5” bigger than the band, are you sure you’re wearing the right size? What dress size are you?

AnnaMagnani · 19/07/2024 22:09

There is no substitute for going to a bra shop and trying on loads of strapless bras in different sizes.

I was at the point of defeat in Bravissimo when finally something fitted.

Also 38DD is an odd size so may be wrong, and you always need a different size in strapless anyway.

DelilahBucket · 19/07/2024 22:09

I would hazard a guess 38DD is not your correct size as while that is a large back, it isn't very big breasts. Head over to Boob or Bust and get measuring. You'll get a much better fit in the correct size.

bellsbuss · 19/07/2024 22:10

Another one for bunny ears , they are amazing , 30FF and I find they lift up my boobs and don't move

Poggishairtufts · 19/07/2024 22:25

I take it that the bunny ears bra that's been mentioned isn't the first thing google gave me

Edited

I’m a 16 usually.

I just did my boob or bust measurements. I’m a 36.5/37 on the tightest measurement and around 38.5 on the snug measurement.

Then it was 48in the standing measurement and 50in on the leaning.

Off to find out what that means in actual sizes as suspect I’m not actually a 38DD reading some of the comments.

I can confirm I do have a wide back though 🤣

I'm not big busted, but I have the wacoal strapless bra and it has really good reviews from many that are busty. The model is called Halo. It's not lined, stays put, and is comfortable.

AnnaMagnani · 19/07/2024 22:48

OP Boob or Bust says you should be starting with a 38HH - how have you been squeezing in a DD?

CissOff · 19/07/2024 22:58

Oh Jesus lord. Errr, well, I just shove them in but the middle bit often lifts off my chest on occasion.

FFS 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’m a professional mother of 2 and just didn’t twig that I was wearing the wrong size. HH seems huge but I know that’s not how it works.

Will go and try a few on tomorrow - maybe then I’ll find a strapless bra to fit? Half the problem has been the cups don’t hold them up, you see 😬🙈

I came on to say Elomi one as well.

34J

it’s multi-way and I often use clear straps for security but it does stay up & provide support as a strapless bra.

Get yourself along to bravissimo for a bra fitting!!
