Do you tuck?

I've never tucked my tops in. You generally didn't when I was youngster and then after kids I was fat and thought it better not to. I've lost loads of weight and am now slim. Should I tuck? I feel weird and self conscious but maybe I'll get used to it and probably looks better?

I'm untucked. Ridiculously short body and long legs, so tucking makes me look really out of proportion. Only way I can find to balance it is to then wear a longer shirt/jacket/cardi over the top but who wants to do that in this weather?

I tuck, usually front only. It's a recent thing for me but definitely looks better IMO. I have a belly / am on the large side but it is definitely more flattering and less 'threw on clothes' looking. The plus size Instagrammers (Laura Adlington for e.g.) are always tucked and gave me the confidence to try.

Your outfit doesn't need tucking but that's because of the unusual proportions! Well done on that weight loss!

Never, it looks weird on me.

I mostly think really it only looks good on size 8 models with 4 foot legs tbh.

Aria999 · 20/07/2024 19:08

From your pictures definitely better out.

With that type of trousers and top I would still tuck...but rather than a full tuck in, you need to pull the top out a bit but the back bit needs to be a bit longer than out than the front. It will make it look more up to date. Looks like you have a lovely figure too 😊

I was the same as you.

Now I tuck when appropriate because Ive discovered it makes it look like I have some sort of waist (I dont) and makes my legs look longer (they are short in comparison to my body) which makes my proportions look less 'orangutan'.

I'll leave you with that image.

Depends what I am wearing but a half tuck does look better and makes my legs look a bit longer. Rather than that regular shirt etc nearly hitting my knees! Or a T-shirt that looks like a night shirt..

NCGrandParent · 20/07/2024 19:24

I think in your photos, tucked in looks better than out (shows off your lovely figure! Near little waist). You might feel more comfortable with a french tuck though (a soft tuck at the front only so it kind of drapes a bit more).

I am from an 80s/90s grungy youth and tucking in was terribly twee but have been converted in my 50s. Even with a tum I think it makes my hourglass figure look better and helps with proportions
