What are these trousers called?

Fitted at the waist, loose leg, slightly narrower at the ankle without being a jogger or paper bag...

They're a thick cotton and SO comfy - need careful styling to make sure I don't end up looking like a pirate, but I definitely want another pair in maybe an olive green or a cobalt blue and I don't know what to search for!

Chinos? What did the shop you bought these ones from call them?

TeddyBeans · 14/07/2024 14:04

Google lens suggested pleated or palazzo pants

ETA a Futher Google suggests it's probably neither of those in reality 🤷‍♀️

EllaPaella · 14/07/2024 14:07

Pleated chinos

Figroll16 · 14/07/2024 14:07

Try searching for tapered or carrot leg

FloofPaws · 14/07/2024 14:12

DD15 calls this shape 'mom trousers'

evtheria · 14/07/2024 14:15

Pleated chinos or trousers

I see them often in Gap, Uniqlo, H&M... and sometimes Zara will do this cut but the fabric is usually not thick.

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 14/07/2024 14:16

Pleated front trousers with tapered leg, I think!

FancyBiscuitsLevel · 14/07/2024 14:16

Where are yours from?

PollyIndia · 14/07/2024 14:17

There’s some lovely trousers of this shape in lots of colours on a piece apart. I’ve been eyeing them up.

doyoulikemyyams · 14/07/2024 14:31

Thanks everyone – it's reassuring to know that it's not a simple answer! 😂

@FancyBiscuitsLevel these are from Zara - they were the last ones in the sale...

Ooh, @Figroll16 when I searched 'carrot leg' the results were very similar - maybe that's it!

I thought 'mom trousers' too, @FloofPaws but upon closer inspection those seem baggier further down the leg than these do, so they don't cuff as easily at the bottom (which I really like the option to do)

@PollyIndia yes, I just went to take a look and the Bari pant is also very similar! Way out of my price range (sob), but lovely!

Tapered trousers

Sgtmajormummy · 14/07/2024 14:46

Pegged trousers.

Sgtmajormummy · 14/07/2024 14:46

Pegged trousers.

Back in the 80s they were called pegs and suited almost no-one

Puppylucky · 14/07/2024 19:02

They suited me! Small waist and stumpy legs 👍

TheQueenWhoNeverWas · 14/07/2024 19:08

Bowie bags.

Frieda12 · 14/07/2024 20:38

Harking back to my youth, I’d call them pegs too

Giraff3 · 14/07/2024 20:38

chinos!

M&s, fat face, new look, joules all do them

Lokshen · 14/07/2024 20:39

Pleat front chinos

Dilbertian · 14/07/2024 20:58

Have a look at Addison trousers on Lucy & Yak.

FusilliGeri · 14/07/2024 21:00

I think they are carrot leg.

BettyBoozer · 14/07/2024 22:05

Barrel leg

456789098765g · 14/07/2024 22:50

tapered! i think they are good if you want to avoid skinny jeans but wide leg would swamp you.

In jeans they are often called mom jeans - I have a couple of cheap pairs from New Look. Barrel leg is sometimes similar but is often wider fit down the leg.

For trousers - Toast does quite a few of these styles

Pegged trousers.

Thats what they were called back in the late 70's early 80's = Pegs :)

DrCoconut · 14/07/2024 23:12

Don't know but they would not be a good look on me. Baggy trousers make me look far bigger and shorter.

tillyandmilly · 14/07/2024 23:13

Paperbag?
