A summer daytime register office followed by a nice restaurant wedding

No.

Myblindsaredown · 06/07/2024 19:08

It’s fine, no one will think you’re the bride. Not my bag though, but if you like it. Ther is a bit Austrian milkmaid vibes about it 😄

crostini · 06/07/2024 19:09

No

WashableVelvet · 06/07/2024 19:09

I wouldn’t. For a big church/stately home wedding I would, as I could rely on the bride wearing something grander, but for a registry office it’s hard to tell how casual she might be so I think best to avoid even patterned white.

Bignanna · 06/07/2024 19:10

Possibly, but don’t forget the pants to go with it!

Dillydollydingdong · 06/07/2024 19:10

And it's too short unless you wear leggings/
trousers with it.

EndlessSummer · 06/07/2024 19:10

Is it a dress or a top?

HateMyRubbishBoss · 06/07/2024 19:10

Oh sorry Op it immediately reminded me of those Greek village brides ! 😑

Coconutter24 · 06/07/2024 19:11

No, it looks to casual. You won’t be mistaken for the bride with the cream but more suited to like a barn or outdoor wedding

BasiliskStare · 06/07/2024 19:23

@SuncreamAndIceCream Yes I think so - I don't think it says bridal

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/07/2024 19:27

You can , but you probably shouldn't... People on Mumsnet can be weird about predominantly white outfits for weddings, even if they are clearly not a wedding dress

TimoteiChaletpants · 06/07/2024 19:29

No

Hibernatalie · 06/07/2024 19:35

It's a no from me - agree with PP the wedding is to low key to risk it

SuncreamAndIceCream · 06/07/2024 20:02

I find wedding wear is a lot more casual/ low key these days. Traditionally I seem to be hugely overdressed at weddings and I thought I would try being a bit more relaxed!

I don't think it's too casual for a wedding and it's definitely not too short (most likely knee length on me)

The query was really about the colour. And it's a lot more split than I expected (I thought you would all say no way).

I've already bought it (Alemais for £135!) and it will be a nice summer dress even if you talk me out of wearing it to the wedding (4 weeks away).

It will probably rain anyway!

No one will mistake you for the bride in that. 😅

MonsteraMama · 06/07/2024 20:32

It's giving Midsommar vibes

Villagetoraiseachild · 06/07/2024 20:33

You could ask the bride as it's her big day.
It will be lovely for holidays or ok in a different colour, but really white/cream is the bride's privilege, unless she's going Goth or Scarlet!

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/07/2024 20:38

Lovely dress. I don’t get the MN views on colours to wear/not wear at weddings. Just batshit. Wear what you like. That dress is fine.

RivkaTheBold · 06/07/2024 20:40

Nope.

GinForBreakfast · 06/07/2024 20:44

It's a peculiarly unattractive dress. Modest cut neckline and sleeves, shapeless middle and short length. I can't even imagine how it could be styled.

You won't commit social suicide by wearing it but there has to be better options!

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 06/07/2024 20:46

Did you see the post about the traditional Polish wedding?

It feels like you are channeling that

sparkles79 · 06/07/2024 20:52

Milkmaid!

AmelieTaylor · 06/07/2024 20:57

i wouldn't 'too white'

😂😂😂😂😂people saying it's too short. It's the OP wanting to wear it, not you!! On me it would be well below my knee (except it wouldn't because I wouldn't be seen dead in it)

CarefulCat · 06/07/2024 20:23

Nailed it 🤣
