The white / cream thing isn’t about being mistaken for the bride , it’s about being a splash of white in the photos when the bride in white should draw the eye.

I think.

Or ‘white is the bride’s colour’ rather than being mistaken for the bride.

It’s bonkers how folks make up these rules. She’s not even said she will be in the pics. 😂

No

ihatethewordhubby · 07/07/2024 08:23

It's a fab dress. Wear it . Can't stand stuffy dresses that people wear to weddings . You will look great

PrincessMee · 07/07/2024 08:54

How to accessorise. Sorry but this was my first thought.

I really like it but I do love embroidery/broderie type things.

No

realityhack · 07/07/2024 09:19

Blimey it's very "wicker man" isnt it? 😐

LadyKenya · 07/07/2024 09:22

Yes

sleepercellspy · 07/07/2024 09:44

@SuncreamAndIceCream I really like it but I do think it's too casual.

I agree weddings are often less dressy than they used to be but I'd wear that for a day out or lunch.

Thanks for the heads up on the label though, I've never heard of it and like lots of their dresses.

needhelpwiththisplease · 07/07/2024 09:46

Is it a Themed / fancy dress wedding?
If so it's fine.
If not, just try and stand near the back for photos.

sleepercellspy · 07/07/2024 09:51

Why do people have to be so fucking snarky on here.
You're not funny and it's not a good look.

supertouper · 07/07/2024 09:58

No, I dont think that dress would be flattering on anyone.

I think you can do much better.

Getonwitit · 07/07/2024 10:02

No, one it is awful and not remotely dressy, may as well turn up in shorts and t shirt and 2 it is predominantly white which you know is a no- no for weddings unless you are attention seeking desperate to cause trouble or dislike the bride.

Moveoverdarlin · 07/07/2024 10:06

I would wear that to a festival with cowboy boots or trainers, not a wedding. I might even pop it over a bikini on the beach and shove it in a beach bag when I take it off. It’s too white and too casual for a a wedding IMO.

Cuppapuppa · 07/07/2024 10:08

I like that style but for summer/holiday vibes. Too casual for a wedding for me.

Shybutrude · 07/07/2024 10:08

@MrsRobinsonsHandprints the polish wedding person was a troll/trying to sell via Mumsnet, hence ignoring suggestions from anywhere that wasn't their site.

The dress/wedding question? it looks like an Asda beach dress not a wedding guest dress. Is it a destination wedding? Summery beachy vibes? Then maybe but UK church/hotel etc no.

Maddy70 · 07/07/2024 10:09

No

Cuppapuppa · 07/07/2024 10:09

Some of the responses are a bit bonkers. It’s a normal summer style that appears in shops every year.

rainbowstardrops · 07/07/2024 10:09

Did you say it cost £135?!!! 😮 I don't really get the whole you can't wear white to a wedding crap but personally, I think that dress is awful! Sorry!

Kelly51 · 07/07/2024 10:18

And it's too short unless you wear leggings/
trousers with it.

What? what is this on MN? who buys a nice dress to wear with bloody trousers???

crostini · 07/07/2024 10:28

It's not about people mistaking her for the bride. It's about the photos and how they look better when there's only the bride in the middle, in white.

lol. You don’t even know if she will be in the photos and I personally don’t think they look better if someone in that dress wasn’t in them,

who makes up these weird rules?

username47985 · 07/07/2024 11:46

I don't think it's dressy enough for a wedding
