What the heck does Billie Eilish know about fragrance?

Was browsing after following another thread and see that Billie Eilish has a perfume, well 2 I suppose because the one I found was Billie Eilish 2!!

Billie Eilish Eilish No. 2 Eau de Parfum Spray | The Perfume Shop

Seriously?

I still wear Jlo Glow and Lovely.
DD wears BE and Ariana.

loropianalover · 03/07/2024 12:46

What is it about Billie Eilish specifically that gets under your skin? 🤔 this obviously isn’t about perfume.

I used to love Beyoncé Heat back in the day!

Liz Taylor had been making movies for about 50 years at that point and was a screen legend. Billie Eilish is a child whose brother is pretty good at recording and promoting music.

😂 you've made a tit of yourself with this comment.

EmeraldRoulette · 03/07/2024 14:19

@Oodiks what is it about a successful woman that annoys you so much? To the point you call her a “child” and try to credit a male relative for her success? Like it’s 150 years ago?

pigsDOfly · 03/07/2024 16:01

If that bothers you OP, take a look at your local opticians.

Almost every glasses frame has the name of a singer, or someone similar, on it.

My current glasses frame is apparently endorsed by 'Sting'.

I have no idea if putting your name on a make of glasses brings in the big bucks but I can't imagine there's any other reason for it.

Billie Eilish doesn't have to know anything about perfume, in the same way that Sting and all the other people who lend their names to such products know absolutely nothing about eye care.

SiobhanSharpe · 03/07/2024 16:25

I find most of the Celeb fragrances out there far too sweet and/or fuity, and clearly aimed at a younger market. (And if not sickly sweet, some are gaggingly awful, enveloping the wearer in a toxic, choking mist)
However, an exception is Sarah Jessica Parker, her 'Lovely' perfume is just that.
And she was certainly involved in the process, from telling them which ones she owned and liked to sampling lots of blends etc. It seems she was a bit of a perfumista herself, she was a fan of the fairly niche Comme des Garçons brand.

violetmondays · 03/07/2024 12:12

I think Billie is great. Would I buy her perfume, no, because I am in my 40s and don't buy into celeb perfume. If I was famous and 'asked do you want to bring out a perfume', hell yes!! Why wouldn't you?

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should 😄

I'm cracking up at all your responses.

As a general rule, I dislike celebrity endorsements of stuff* and I guess Billie Eilish just grinds my gears more than most.

And here you all are defending her and defending celebrity endorsements like that's what matters. I'm honestly astonished at the traction this idiot post got.

Poor little Billie, how will she manage with only 53 million USD?

*I'm kind of okay with John Lydon's butter commercials because he did it to get the band back together.

I get it, slebs can rake in cash by putting their name on things they know nothing about. I just don't like it.

'Like that's what matters'? No, I think people are saying it doesn't really matter. Buy it or don't, but there's no reason to be bothered about her perfumes.

Mentioning how much money she has just shows that you're bitter and jealous of a young woman that is successful. How sad you must be in your own life for this to register with.

Oodiks · 03/07/2024 16:54

AstonMartha · 03/07/2024 07:34

Blimey you are an angry little bunny.

She’s a successful musician but let’s give her brother all of the credit because he is four years older than her and has a penis.

He does write and produce her music, so there's that.

What I find extraordinary about the responses is how many are ad hominems.

I'm amazed, again, at how many responses to a nonsense post, and how many are personal attacks.

I don't like celebrity endorsements; can anyone here actually defend celebrity endorsements without attacking me?

I don't know why you feel the need to tell people that you don't like celeb endorsements but even if you don't, could you not have done that without attacking a young woman. You've called her a child and basically said she owes her success to a man. You attack her, then moan people attack you. I don't think they have, they've just called you out on your shit.

Celeb endorsements have been done for years, they're not going anywhere. I guess you'll have to just keep being annoyed by them. They'll keep making money and your life won't be any better for moaning about it.

She is not a child!
She is a really good musician. And so is her brother.
She was a teen when she started, but from all the wrong things in the world, you really need to pick on her? There is nothing wrong with her.

Uricon2 · 03/07/2024 17:21

Come on OP. It is blatantly obvious to a number of us that your issue is with BE, as seemingly Liz Taylor's perfume empire is fine with you. I'm saying this as someone who could not name one BE song if my life depended on it.

Celeb endorsements of harmless things like perfume are innocuous. They start flogging stuff like "miracle" weight loss products, different matter.

I couldn't name a BE song until that long ago either but now love her music (thanks to my son). Her new album is fantastic.
