What the heck does Billie Eilish know about fragrance?

Was browsing after following another thread and see that Billie Eilish has a perfume, well 2 I suppose because the one I found was Billie Eilish 2!!

Billie Eilish Eilish No. 2 Eau de Parfum Spray | The Perfume Shop

Seriously?

OP posts:
KreedKafer · 03/07/2024 09:06

What an odd thing to say. She doesn’t have to know about fragrance to lend her name to one. It’s a collaboration with a fragrance house. They make the fragrance, she approves it based on whether she likes it. She’s not claiming to have developed it in her own laboratory.

PlayYourMusic · 03/07/2024 09:08

You sound very bitter...or something OP. What is your problem here?

Her perfumes smell nice and I think they're vegan and cruelty free. What's not to like? Although, you don't have to buy them.

I suppose being negative about Billie Eilish makes a change from Taylor Swift usually being the the target on mumsnet. 😅

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 03/07/2024 09:16

I loved the Holly Sharpe Designer perfume from Marksies I've just finished my last bottle. Another artist just adding their name but still good.

I'm not sure what Billie has done to annoy you. Fair play to her making money where she can. Bands etc are brands.

Victoriancat · 03/07/2024 09:25

Like celebrities haven't done this for years, why are you so pressed 😂

TheSkyRaisin · 03/07/2024 09:32

My favourite celebrity perfume is Joan Collins' 'Snatch'. A timeless classic.

TheBerry · 03/07/2024 09:37

What is the point of this post.

She is a person who has released a fragrance which major stockists are interested in stocking and presumably quite a lot of people are interested in buying.

You don’t have to buy it.

ClonedSquare · 03/07/2024 09:43

The celebrity doesn't need to know anything about perfume, and I don't think anyone necessarily thinks they wear their own stuff themselves.

The celebrity name is just being used as shorthand to help you narrow down what to look at based on the celebrity's vibe.

Britney or other pop stars are going to be playful, fruity, happy smelling scents. JLo's vibe is more sexy, sultry and grown up but not super high end. Billie's is probably darker, young but more unusual scents. Sarah Jessica Parker is more high end, expensive scents (within the confines of still being celeb perfume not artisan).

Lwrenn · 03/07/2024 09:47

Imagine the wildly busy Billie trawling through the scent profiles of various aldehydes and vegan ambergris so a person on mumsnet who seems disgruntled by a young woman creating music cuts her slack.

Lwrenn · 03/07/2024 09:49

Also I shall be testing the Billie scents due to the nice reviews left on this post.
I tend to wear Britney so when people ask me what the perfume is I can say "it's Britney bitch" and I never tire of it because I'm a wee simpleton 🤣

greenpolarbear · 03/07/2024 09:52

More of Britney Spears's money came from perfumes than her music. Probably still does.

Probably because perfume costs pennies to make and is £100 a bottle.

You're stupid if you're famous and don't get into fragrances. It's no work for you beyond a photo shoot and the money is ludicrous.

Psspsspssssss · 03/07/2024 09:56

Celebs have been releasing fragrances for ever OP but I find a Billie Eilish one funny. The way she dresses she'd never wear one.. some vegan earth balm clay or something maybe? 🤔

Fizbosshoes · 03/07/2024 09:59

I'm imagining all the celebs going to a perfume laboratory (if that's the right word) and making perfumes as an apprentice task with Karen Brady frowning in the background ...and then creating some shit brown and green packaging for it! 😄

JonnyTheDogFacedBoy · 03/07/2024 10:01

Lovely by SJP is, well, lovely.

You seem strangely riled up by the idea of Billie Eilish (specifically) putting her name to perfumes. "What does she know about ?", as if she's brewed it herself in her bathroom at home with no thought behind what goes in it. Like peppa pig when she mixed flowers in a bucket of water to make perfume for mummy pig.

Celeb fragrance is not a new concept, so I'm not sure why you have a problem with Billie Eilish bringing one out. Although from your catty comment about her being a child riding on the coat tails of her brother's success, maybe you just don't like her.

ChangeEmailAddress · 03/07/2024 10:28

You can always stick to the 'classics' such as Chanel No5 which was chosen by a 'celebrity' clothes designer ....

JurassicClark · 03/07/2024 10:49

I’m having a delightful moment picturing assorted celebrities in their bathrooms mushing up assorted flowers, lotions and probably toothpaste in an attempt to create their signature perfumes like a bunch of keen preschoolers.

Ariana Grande in her ‘Cat’ years is particularly good at this and is making me laugh.

Uricon2 · 03/07/2024 11:00

The only celeb I can think of that has hands on close involvement with their scents and the creative process is Richard E. Grant with his Jack range, but it's clear he is a lifelong perfumista.

HA an oldie but a goodie 😂

Liz Taylor had been making movies for about 50 years at that point and was a screen legend. Billie Eilish is a child whose brother is pretty good at recording and promoting music.

Are you the same type thats also 'furious' at the 'child bride' that is Millie Bobby Brown?

It blows my mind that some people aren't capable of grasping that just because someone was say 13 when they first saw them a decade ago doesn't mean they will always be a child unable to grow up and do normal things that any adults are legally allowed and perfectly entitled to do.

Why dismiss a successful woman like this?

TheLizardQueen · 03/07/2024 12:00

She is not a child. She has 9 Grammys, 3 Brit awards, 3 MTV music awards, 2 golden globes, 3 academy awards and many more. But yeah let’s give her brother all the credit!! And btw all 3 of her perfumes smell divine.

Her perfumes are vegan, not sure why you have to dress a certain way to use perfume

violetmondays · 03/07/2024 12:12

I think Billie is great. Would I buy her perfume, no, because I am in my 40s and don't buy into celeb perfume. If I was famous and 'asked do you want to bring out a perfume', hell yes!! Why wouldn't you?
