What the heck does Billie Eilish know about fragrance?

Was browsing after following another thread and see that Billie Eilish has a perfume, well 2 I suppose because the one I found was Billie Eilish 2!!

Billie Eilish Eilish No. 2 Eau de Parfum Spray | The Perfume Shop

Seriously?

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 03/07/2024 07:49

Not much I suppose, but it seems her marketing team knows someone will be buying it.

EinekleineKatze · 03/07/2024 07:50

Are we starting 'reasons to hate Billie' instead of 'reasons to hate Taylor' now?
Don't fancy it? Don't buy it.
Celeb perfum/perfum endorsement is not a new concept.

Liz Taylor had been making movies for about 50 years at that point and was a screen legend. Billie Eilish is a child whose brother is pretty good at recording and promoting music.

This is a ridiculous statement.

So by the sound of it, you don't have a problem with celeb perfumes, you have a problem with Billie Eilish.

RosaRoja · 03/07/2024 07:57

It’s part of marketing. No 2 is very nice, though, despite its name. Everyone has a side hussle nowadays.

Thanks PP for that info about Shirley Temple!

dottydodah · 03/07/2024 08:00

Well lets be fair "oodiks" or "Dotty" dont have quite the same ring! Billie Eilish is a young modern Singer,of course her products will sell! There are lots of singes doing similar! She doesnt need to know anything about PF (just endorse it presumably!)

Don't be daft, they are/were both relevant to the target market or their name wouldn't be on it.

You don't get a perfume contract for longevity, you get it for being a brand.

SoComplicated · 03/07/2024 08:08

My daughter wears her perfumes. I do think they are ridiculously expensive though at over £50 considering her market would be young girls.

I used to wear Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker and one of the Jo-Lo perfumes myself but they are far more reasonable in price.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with celebrity perfumes per se.

I guess I knew this, I just hate it so.

I liked it when musicians were about music and didn't have to become a whole brand to boot.

Given her recent diagnosis, I'm pleased she's diversifying and building income streams as she won't be able to bounce around on stage forever.

Gosh what's the diagnosis?

PoonamiMammi · 03/07/2024 08:17

Fans want proximity to their idols and perfumes being such a personal and sensory item gives them this closeness they crave. As for why celebs do it, it's obvious, money!

I find Billie Eilish music and voice really creepy and flat it gives me goosebumps and not in a good way but like everyone said she is hardly the first or last to do this. It's all about profit.

Noosnom · 03/07/2024 08:22

Celebs have bene doing this for decades. There was Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds in the 80's. Nice little money spinner.

Pipecleanerrevival · 03/07/2024 08:25

What does anyone need to “know about fragrance” except that you like that smell or you don’t? This is such a weird complaint.

Dontcallmescarface · 03/07/2024 08:30

She probably doesn't know anything about perfume other than whether it smelt good and she was happy to put her name to it. It's not like she stepped into the lab and created the blend. I doubt Gary Lineker has ever cooked a crisp in his life but it didn't stop him promoting them did it?

😂😂😂the way you phrased it is really funny to me!!

eeeeeewwwwwww yuckkkkk too far Gwen! Too fucking far!!

Mrsjayy · 03/07/2024 08:35

Oh come on this can't be the first "celebrity " fragrance you have come across? The Britney spears ones were quite nice one of my Dds used to wear it.

LakeTiticaca · 03/07/2024 08:36

They don't blend it themselves they get paid loads of money to put their name to it.
I prefer Avon's Little Black Dress.
It smells gorgeous and doesn't cost an arm and a leg 🤣

Mrsjayy · 03/07/2024 08:38

Vag candle is hilarious I always think Gwynnie is having a laugh when she .sells crap or recommends leggings that cost 100s.

Oh I used to like LBD .

PantsAcademy · 03/07/2024 08:46

I love the first Billie Eilish perfume. Haven't tried the other two. I will admit I do feel a BIT silly as a woman in my late 30s wearing a "celebrity" perfume, but I can get over that.
It doesn't anger me that celebrities put their name on unrelated products, either I like something or I don't.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 03/07/2024 08:48

Avon perfumes are amazing! Eve Truth is my go to perfume. Far Away is a classic and smells a bit like the Britney. My Mum uses to love the Britney perfume.

TheCourtierTapsHisFan · 03/07/2024 08:52

The nose behind Eilish is Steve DeMercado. I’ve just had a look at what other perfumes he has created on Fragrantica. Calvin Klein Escape for men is the only other one I know.

I can see how the notes in Eilish would be very appealing to people who like gourmand fragrances. I bet my dd2 (18) would love it.

Sondheimisademigod · 03/07/2024 09:03

You do realise that the 'cleleb' the smell is named for probably did not have any input into creating the smell...
Some are daft/greedy enough to attach their name to anything - not just perfume
