32E bikini that doesn’t look like a bra

Confuzzleduzzled · 24/06/2024 13:07

DD wears a 32E but is a size 8 overall. I know that probably means she is a 30F or 28FF but she finds anything tight uncomfortable and as she’s still growing it’s a lot cheaper to buy 32E.

She wants to wear pretty bikinis and I would love to spend £10 at primark rather than £50 at bravissimo. However she really needs more coverage and support than cheap ones provide. She hates bikinis that look like bras with the obvious underwire band. She has a nice fitting one from ASOS that is cup sized. Is there anywhere else that sells pretty cup sized bikinis?

I have a Freya bralette style one which is comfy and supportive. More crop top than bra style. They have a few nice ones in their outlet section on the website.

Confuzzleduzzled · 24/06/2024 20:20

Thanks everyone. Think I’m going to go with the bigger sized tie back ones from
primark or similar.

@Confuzzleduzzled I bought my DD who is a size 10/12 with a 32G bust a Primark bikini. She has bottoms for size 10/12 (S I think) and an XL top (meant to fit 16/18). The top has drawstrings round the neck and back and she just pulls the strings in and it fits. My DD wanted a typical triangle style bikini top and going to a XL size gives the right coverage for a larger cup size with a slim frame. You can always cut and knot the drawstrings if they end up too long.

Yep that's what I do. Buy the 10/12 bottom and a 16 top as long as it's string adjusted it covers my 32h boobs fine.

It's the best option I've found for cute cheap bikini tops. Hope she finds something she likes!

Vinorosso74 · 24/06/2024 20:25

My 14yo also needs a 32E so will look at Pour Moi, I looked at Freya but they seemed older styles.
She tried some tops on the other week but they just didn't fit, she doesn't want a tie top either as I suggested a larger size she could adjust. She feels like she wants more coverage/support. I'm smaller of nork so this is all new to me!

StamppotAndGravy · 24/06/2024 20:31

Does she want a delicate pretty one, or would a sporty surfing one suit her better. These surfing bikinis are pretty supportive and not old ladyish, and I can run in the normal Funkita ones, never mind the mega supportive one.

cheap

mega-supportive

I'm a 34E and have just bought a couple from Next. There's so many on their website that it's overwhelming so I found it helped to filter to Next own brand and my size. I've found it really hard to find anything. Primark, etc are all way to small and Pour Moi are expensive.

I’ll have another look. She finds the styles too grown up as she’s only 14. I don’t think she’s unusually big so I can’t understand what other girls her size wear. I did notice that on love island the fashion is for half your boob to be showing beneath the cup. (Not that I want her to dress like that!)

They are often implants so they don't need the support real boobs do. So they can wear triangle tops that don't cover the boobs

dunkdemunder · 24/06/2024 21:08

These don't look matronly and they aren't expensive.

When I had big boobs, I looked at Panache but bought them on eBay, I suppose nowadays it would be vented

dottyaboutstripes · 24/06/2024 21:28

Have a look at cupshe
I am 30F and usually spend loads on branded cup sized bikinis but last year bought a size S from there and it was great!

DataPup · 24/06/2024 21:48

I'm on the lookout for something similar, all the cup sized ones I see seem to have underwires.

I'm not convinced about the halter tie back ones. It does work, but personally I get a very painful neck after a while wearing those. Might be an idea that she checks it's comfortable to wear all day before going away with no chance to get another.

I've had luck with Primark tops and I'm 32H. Size x large normally fits.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 25/06/2024 06:40

Shein do a good range of DD+ bikinis. They typically start at 34 but as many have tie fastenings they can be adjusted. I just bought a very supportive but pretty one.

Partridgewell · 25/06/2024 06:48

I am a very similar size and, back when I wore bikinis, I would just get a tie back one in a bigger size - I remember once I bought a size 16 top with 8 bottoms.

I like Boden swimming costumes - often v good value on Vinted.

Gunnersforthecup · 25/06/2024 06:50

Boden sale?

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 25/06/2024 07:19

I was going to suggest New Look. John Leiws might be worth a look too.

I'm not a fan of Bravissimo swimwear, they seem to think everyone wants big pants or hideous patterns and to look like Judith Chalmers.

It's probably not that she's "unusually big" but rather that she's been correctly measured and fitted compared to her peers. I'm also a 28ff and I wouldn't consider myself particularly busty. Like your DD I wear a 32E in bikinis for comfort and as pp have said, pour moi is a good shout for items that are actually pretty and not matronly

Freya do triangle bras that don't look matronly either. And sporty ones like this that are cool looking rather than sexy or mature.

Wow I'm virtually exactly the same size as your DD. After a lifetime of trying to find decent bikinis the only thing that works for me is triangle bikinis that you can mix and match the sizes of. If the straps dig as a halterneck, you can tie the straps a bit different so they wrap around the back. I've never liked any other alternatives including the bra style ones which kind of make it look like you're apologising for your boobs.

Pretty little thing (sorry I don't like to recommend fast fashion but it's the only good option for me for this bikini) do a mix match and i think its called a ruffle triangle bikini (kind of ruffled around the outside).

Worthalltheyears · 25/06/2024 09:15

Try Belle Lingerie - good range of sizes and styles.

Cliedi · 25/06/2024 10:21

Get your DD to have a search on vinted. If she looks in the swimwear section and types in her cup size it will show her what is available and might give her an idea of brands that she likes that do her cup size so you can look on their websites
