If you're chunky of thigh, where are your denim shorts from?

I have just put on the denim shorts that I bought last year and have remembered how remarkably unflattering there are.
I'm pear shaped so need a pair which is slightly flared rather than straight (and certainly not sausage like!).
Any recommendations?

I’ve got several pairs from M & S - but I’ve had them a few years now.

Not denim, usually, but Uniqlo do really nice wide leg shorts. I buy all mine on vinted though so not sure if they have them currently.

Chunky thighs can’t rock the denim shorts look.A denim skirt is the answer.

I had an absolute breakthrough with this exact problem this year - Sainsburys TU high waisted mom shorts I think they're called. Suit me soooo much better than a normal cut.

beckybarefoot · 19/06/2024 15:38

i got mine online from a catalouge.. nice high waist, slightly stretchy material.. Ambross Wilson i believe, and they are cut really nicely just below the knee

I bought these from Next. Perfect for my huge thighs. Look like denim but not thick and heavy.

Buy Mid Blue Denim Denim Boy Short from the Next UK online shop

I have these in all the colours, they are not tight like they look in the images. Most flattering shorts I've had and I have erm rather chunky thighs.

Another vote for these. I’m a pear shape and I hate tight shorts but these fit comfortably

Same problem, recently bought some Reiss Olivia’s and they are the best shorts I’ve ever had!

PragmaticDramatic · 19/06/2024 16:51

I bought some a couple of years back from Monsoon with a plaited type of waist band that had some stretch to them that are probably what you are looking for. They were imo very 70s. You could do a search on Vinted.

stickybear · 19/06/2024 17:13

I got some good ones from Fat Face last year. Think they were described as boyfriend fit

Absolute tripe.

PragmaticDramatic · 19/06/2024 18:55

Monsoon Lucille shorts are what the shorts I mentioned above are called.

Muffin101 · 19/06/2024 18:59

Abercrombie Curve Love shorts are what you need! Or I believe asos have an ‘hourglass’ range, altho I haven’t tried those myself.

BresciaBike · 19/06/2024 19:25

How are all of you with thighs managing shorts? Don't you find they bunch in the middle? It can't just be me surely

I wear longer and fitted denim, so the shorts length is much closer to the knee than the hip! I have thighs that rub, so need the protection.

shardlakem · 19/06/2024 20:30

Another vote for the M&S ones, they are cut slightly looser and longer so still look trendy but fit so much more comfortable!

alloutofcareunits · 19/06/2024 21:53

I'm also pear shaped with chunky thighs and have just bought two pairs in Tesco, bought with the thought they'd end up being returned but both are very flattering! One pair are 'mom' cut and the other are longer with frayed hems, I'd definitely recommend trying, both were well under £20 each too

brogueish · 19/06/2024 23:02

Hennes. They’ve got loads.

professionalnomad · 20/06/2024 13:55

Tesco! Loose And lovely soft material. High elasticated waist

autumn1610 · 20/06/2024 14:07

I hate shorts but I did get a nice pair of denim ones from primark - mom fit. Bit high waisted and loose on the thighs
