I'm enjoying the Ascot fashions. I rather liked Princess Anne's navy and white ensemble today.

Love the photos of Max in The Pringle - the third photo is pure Max!

Serenster · 19/06/2024 21:17

Table tennis in those sleeves is quite impressive!

I love Zara’s dress at Ascot today. That’s two days in row she’s knocked it out of the park.

Papergirl1968 · 19/06/2024 21:29

Actually yes, you’re right. I. Was so focused on Sophie I hadn’t noticed Edward’s awful outfit.
As for Max…she takes flamboyant to a whole new level.

Papergirl1968 · 19/06/2024 21:40

Sorry, didn’t notice the Edward the Peasant pic had already been linked.
Beatrice’s Ascot dress today was the same one that Sophie wore at the Garter ceremony the other day.

Sorry Soph, it’s a no from me on this dress.

I think Sophie wore it better. The colour isn’t great on Beatrice and her hat is a bit fussy.

Chewbecca · 19/06/2024 21:48

Yes, the colour of the pink / white dress is more Sophie than Beatrice.

Edward is looking great IMO, ok, maybe not always style-wise (though he wears his top hat and tails well) but he is really beaming at the moment and looking relaxed, kind and charming, and very like his mother when she pulled her mischievous face. There’s a great pic of him at Ascot today.

gingercat02 · 19/06/2024 21:52

Do we think there is a vast rolling wardrobe somewhere where they just rock up and go
Tuesday Ascot something pale and flowery size 12 please

eggandonion · 19/06/2024 21:58

Were the Edinburghs not in a carriage for their wedding anniversary?
If I need a wedding type outfit I would love a sort of neighbourhood cooperative to borrow from. All those frocks need more than one outing.
Not Caroles though. I think it can stay in the wardrobe.

Maireas · 19/06/2024 22:08

Has Sophie got a packet of polos down the front of that dress? The pink was nicer.
Edward really does resemble his mother now, I never saw it before.

I think Sophie’s dress is nice in a way, it just needed to be shorter, so the opaque part stopped maybe just below the knee and the transparent bit calf ish? The proportions make it look a bit frumpy but the pattern is pretty.

I saw a reference somewhere to it
being “bridal”. I wonder if it was a reference to the wedding anniversary (with the royal literal dressing penchant in mind)?

Bea’s dress is a bit Regency teen. I’d expect one of the young Bridgertons to be wearing it

KillingMeDeftIy · 19/06/2024 22:53

It’s like someone used an Instagram age filter on Prince George! He really does take after Pa Middleton.

Carole’s dress is objectively pretty but I’m not sure it’s great on her. She’s an attractive woman who’s kept her figure but it does her a disservice!

There is too much dress.

Gooseysgirl · 20/06/2024 00:21

Sophie's dress is about 12 inches too long, not a fan. Didn't much like QC's dress today although the colour was good. Zara looked great again. I think Carole looks better in something a bit more structured. Thought both herself and Michael have aged a lot... not a criticism just an observation, I expect the last six months has been very difficult for them 😕

ShamedBySiri · 20/06/2024 08:01

I don't have any particular memory of how Zara usually styles her hair with hats etc, but I feel she must have a new hairdresser on board and getting it done professionally for the occasion, she's looked fab both days and the hair and hat styling have been perfect. I would think she's the type of person who does her own most of the time barring particular important occasions.

Does Mark Phillips still live on their estate. He seems quite huggy...does he have 2 other kids. One is close to Zara. She loves a hug.

He had somewhere in the estate after the divorce and they seemed to manage it in a very civilised style.

I do have a memory of Zara and Peter as children, probably around age ten, I was at a horse trials and walking through the horsebox area. They were playing a ball game with Mark. The ball was dropped as they all turned their attention to my dog which had recently had ear surgery, his head was swathed in bandages so he looked like a nun! Seemed like any other happy horsey family, doing the stuff that they all do at these events.

KillingMeDeftIy · 20/06/2024 08:26

Yes, Mark does have two other kids. One from his second marriage and one who I think was born while he was married to Anne?

MartyFunkhouser · 20/06/2024 08:35

Thinking about all these flowery, fussy dresses made me think of Kate. Although I’m not a fan of her style, she always looks perfect. She almost always wears one colour and nothing frilly or patterned and I think this is what really works.

Eaumyword · 20/06/2024 10:19

I quite like Carole's dress! Lovely colour.

MartyFunkhouser · 20/06/2024 10:43

I was irked at Carole’s name badge - ‘Mrs Michael Middleton’ ffs. Clearly not worthy of her own bloody name.

SqueakyDinosaur · 20/06/2024 10:57

Carole is a dead ringer for Lesley Manville there, IMO.

That’s standard for Royal Ascot, they’ve modernised in a lot of ways but this is definitely one of their “old school rules apply” sticking points.

My RA badge from 10 years ago has my own name on it, but I didn’t bother taking the husband with me 🤣

MotherofPearl · 20/06/2024 11:32

On the name badge thing: I also noticed Carole's, and compared it to Zara's which said 'Mrs Zara Tindall', rather than 'Mrs Michael Tindall'. Do you get to choose the wording for your name badge at RA, @CaveMum?
