I like Kate's dress, but I love purple 💜
I'm glad she's there but agree she should only do what she is able.

It actually looks nicer than in the pictures, now I see it on tv. I like her shoes.

@lollipoprainbow Yes but plenty of mere mortals don’t have the world’s press scrutinising their every move. Don’t know about you, but I can phone in work sick without it appearing in BBC breaking news.

I love that photo. The cheer when she came out was lovely, royal patronage is such an important part of Wimbledon.

So lovely to see Charlotte and Pippa with her too. I hope by the Autumn she is through the treatment and can look to the future.

Having looked back at previous Wimbledon looks I fully expected green so the purple is a nice change whilst still "on brand". I did think we'd see Pippa alongside her, and how nice to see Charlotte there too. I expect George is going to be at the football. How old was he when we first saw him accompany his Dad? Just wondering if Louis might get a chance to go.

No not at all. Very few people are in the sort of position she is in. Immense, unrelenting scrutiny, often from people who are fairly unhinged . You can never slip up, be late, look rough, leave early etc etc.

Can't find where I saw it but Kate's sunglasses are Victoria Beckham. Charlotte's are junior Raybans.

I have to admit, I’m liking the subtle changes since Charles took over in terms of Anne, Sophie and Kate wearing trousers sometimes, and things like Kate’s shoes. Little modernising touches.

I think it also, in a roundabout way, shows the huge respect they had for the Queen that they didn’t, for example, wear trousers for official engagements when she was around as it was known she didn’t like them.

I imagine QEII never did an official engagement in the UK in trousers but Kate definitely has. See my previous post plus these trousers she wore 4 times in 2018-22.

I do wonder how it’s “known” that the Queen didn’t like trousers or red nail polish or whatever it was, given that she never expressed an opinion in public!

I often think that, @KillingMeDeftIy . I remember Michelle Obama recounting that she anxiously raised some sort of protocol with the late Queen, and getting a response - words to the effect - please don't worry, it doesn't matter, don't bother about minor issues!
She met so many Heads of State etc that I'm sure she remained reasonably flexible and open minded.

I think it was a generational thing. Red nail polish was considered slutty by that generation. My mother told me her father refused to let her wear jeans because it was considered beyond the pale for women . Of course the Queen would reassure her guests to make them comfortable. It’s good manners. I think it was because Michelle gave her a hug, something definitely not considered acceptable to anyone beyond her close family , but the Queen was trying to put her at her ease, accepting that Michelle is American .

i have always assumed it’s in the same way it’s “known” Charles planned to slim down to the monarchy despite the fact he’s never actually said that out loud publicly.

She’s been undergoing a toxic, unpleasant treatment for a life-threatening disease. I doubt she’s been care free and enjoying herself.
