Camilla saying goodbye to the Japanese guests, and attending the funeral
of Kirsty Allsop’s father who was an old friend.
Plus Max out and about and Leti attending two meetings - love her skirt but not as keen on the blue dress.

What I mostly want is enough staff <surveys squalid horror of present abode> and a resident handyman or six who will just see what needs fixing and fix it without me having to do anything.

Maireas · 27/06/2024 21:34

It's hard to get used to Leti in flats, isn't it? She was Queen of the stiletto for so long. That's a very pretty pink skirt. The dress looks a little strange, maybe it's just the picture.
Camilla loves that blue, I think. Maybe it cheers her up!

You have all chosen UK homes. There's not a lot of choice of royal residences in the south of France where I'd like to be but I think I could make do with Villa Mirage in Ste Maxime. It's a holiday home of the Swedish royal family.

When you get tired of the UK weather you can come and stay. I've arranged with Carl Gustav that he will leave the boat when he vacates the villa.

I am loving Camilla's brooches. Like her tiaras, she seems to be able to carry off enormous brooches with aplomb.

KillingMeDeftIy · 27/06/2024 21:38

Doesn’t Daisy have a villa in the south of France too? I’m sure it’s lovely, apart from the smell of cigs that probably lingers everywhere!

She has Chateau de Cayx. But it's inland. The Belgians have somewhere near Grasse but I prefer the coast. I toyed with the Luxembourgish Tour de Sarrazine but it looks a bit remote. So Villa Mirage is my choice.

SqueakyDinosaur · 27/06/2024 21:57

I wonder what's the biggest brooch in the UK RF's vault? That whopper that QEII wore for Philip's funeral must be up on the podium, at least, but there's probably some mad stomachers from Queen Mary that are just too heavy to wear on any normal item of clothing.

justasking111 · 27/06/2024 22:05

Grannies chips brooch, think that's in a crown now.

SqueakyDinosaur · 27/06/2024 22:12

Oh yes, but that's just two absolutely whopping diamonds. There are brooches the size of saucers made of scores of smaller stones...

Me too. I’d love to go away for a few days but that’s bottom of the list behind paying off my overdraft, new tyres, long overdue dentist and optician appointments, and getting repairs and redecorating done. 🥲

Maireas · 27/06/2024 22:20

You're quite right, @Choux . We need homes in the South of France as well.

Ohh that's an idea! @Maireas please may I have the Danish Royal Yacht! I also bagsied both Fredensborg Palace and Marselisborg a while back, IIRC. If it's not claimed I'd also like Château de Cayx and then I shall definitely rein myself in as I'm clearly quite greedy. 😳😳

Also very happy to host get togethers - I'll take my turn at Easter since Christmas is covered.

I need an Italian villa too.

Choux · 27/06/2024 22:30

Did someone mention Queen Mary?

Queen Mary wearing Cullinans I and II as a brooch on her chest, III as a pendant on the Coronation Necklace, and IV in the base of her crown, below the Koh-i-Noor.

Cullinans I and II are now part of the Crown Jewels so the most valuable brooch available to be worn is the one linked to upthread. I wonder if Camilla will ever wear that?

Choux · 27/06/2024 22:36

Classy move from Her Late Majesty:
On 25 March 1958, while she and Prince Philip were on a state visit to the Netherlands, Queen Elizabeth II revealed that Cullinan III and IV are known in her family as "Granny's Chips". They visited the Asscher Diamond Company, where Cullinan had been cut 50 years earlier. It was the first time the Queen had worn the brooch publicly. During her visit, she unpinned the brooch and offered it for examination to Louis Asscher, nephew of Joseph Asscher, who split the rough diamond. Aged 84, he was deeply moved that the Queen had brought the diamonds with her, knowing how much it would mean to him seeing them again after so many years.

🤩🤩🤩 I've not even begun to collect brooches yet!

Harassedevictee · 27/06/2024 22:44

@Choux what a lovely story.

I always like the fact the RF put on a small exhibition of relevant items from the royal archives for the visiting head of state for state visits.

Love Leti’s pink skirt.

If we are allowed Overseas palaces I would go for The Prince's Palace of Monaco. The location is amazing.

Here’s the elegant Duchess of Gloucester in her stunning Cartier Indian tiara, loads of other gorgeous jewellery (her personal vault is amazing) and her brand new Garter sash. Again, no family order for Brigitte either. Charles must have just given it to Camilla so far.

Love this tiara
