I agree that she looks great. Interesting about the seating plan. Grin

I think all the politicians are in unusual seating positions because of the election and the need to keep everything neutral.

There was no visit to Downing St or meeting with the PM on this visit either.

And here’s a picture of Charles’ order. Phillip Treacy, a favourite designer of Camilla’s, designed the ribbon (not exactly a demanding commission…!) and the diamond surround was created from loose diamonds in the vault. They must have quite the collection of loose diamonds…

Very different from the George V one that looks to be a very similar colour.

I know he’ll likely do it in order - Camilla, Kate, Anne, Sophie Birgitte… - but I really hope he gives one to Princess Alexandra. She’s the last suviving holder of the George VI order so would be nice to see someone have 3 again (even though we’re not likely to see her any many events at all).

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/06/2024 21:47

I'm disappointed to see that Sophie's wearing the lotus tiara that's been worn by Catherine up to now - I prefer exclusive use of tiaras. Unless it now becomes hers which might indicate that Kate's due one or more upgrades when she does return to full duties...shame though as I thought it suits POW really nicely.

That said, it's so exciting to see Sophie wearing something new!

@Serenster I agree, Camilla actually makes the Burmese Ruby tiara look alright!

ARichtGoodDram · 25/06/2024 21:53

I wonder if it means Catherine’s go-to is going to be one of QEII’s old tiaras

Theres got to be a few that wouldn’t suit Camilla.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the next time we see Catherine at a tiara do she’s got one of the important ones (and probably the family order)

KillingMeDeftIy · 25/06/2024 21:55

I’m sure they don’t mind sharing, god knows there’s enough tiaras to go around! But there are definitely less tiara events these days compared to the days of the late Queen, Princess Margaret and the QM!

justasking111 · 25/06/2024 21:59

Sophie's earrings are ginormous, and that necklace. I'm glad to see the jewellery getting an airing. All the brooches Camilla wore last week 💗

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 25/06/2024 21:59

The Lotus Flower looks to have brown velvet round the frame, so for Kate's hair colour, not Sophie's, so maybe it's not S's exclusively. It is a lovely tiara and would have looked even better if it had been wrapped in blonde velvet...

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/06/2024 22:05

I'm sure they don't mind sharing, but I mind!

Not sure why as I don't have a problem when the Swedish royal house does it...but it just doesn't seem right for the British pieces to be passed from pillar to post. I'd rather everyone had their own. @ARichtGoodDram I hope Catherine gets to wear a suitably grand one from the vaults. I'd like her to have one with coloured gems.

MrsLeonFarrell · 25/06/2024 22:08

I don't really like the lotus tiara, not sure why though, maybe because it's a bit 20s whereas the others are more timeless?.

Camilla has great hair for tiaras, I wonder if she is seeing how big she can go, I'm imagining her in a tiara you can see from space.

I wonder if rules on who wears which tiara are another thing that will change with the King. It always seemed like the late Queen had quite clear hierarchies for jewellery but maybe the King isn't too bothered.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/06/2024 22:11

I quite like the lotus tiara and was happy to see Catherine wearing it - I think it suited her nicely. BUT I'm happy for Sophie to have it if Catherine gets to have a new important one!

@Papergirl1968 I thought Sophie looked great in that dress.

@justasking111 it was a treat to see so many lovely brooches!

Yes you could be right on that.

The back of the Royal Family Order is quite beautiful.

Maireas · 25/06/2024 22:24

Lovely to see all the jewellery getting an airing. I'm hoping the King will open the vaults and encourage a lot of wearing!

KillingMeDeftIy · 25/06/2024 22:28

I’m honestly not bothered about who wears what - I just like looking at the jewels! Camilla can carry off the bigger tiaras that I think would be too much on Sophie or Kate. Not sure who else has hair the hair for it?

Interestingly, the lotus flower tiara was most frequently worn by Princess Margaret and then Serena Linley on her wedding day. But when Margaret died I guess it went back to the Queen rather than passing to one of her children. It was originally a wedding present for the QM - I don’t know whether that made it her personal property or the property of the Crown.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/06/2024 22:29

I'm watching the King give his speech just now (on the Royal Family Channel, YouTube) and am struck, again, but how much more beautiful the tiaras/jewellery are in motion and reflecting the light. Absolutely stunning! Sophie really looks lovely in the tiara - I actually think it looks better on her than on Catherine, but maybe that's just because it's so much nicer than the pieces she usually wears.

Empress Masako is beautiful and her tiara is gorgeous too.

KillingMeDeftIy · 25/06/2024 22:31

It’s nice to see Masako looking well and happy, as she’s been through some tough times. Her dress is a bit too old-fashioned for me but the Japanese court does seem very conservative. That green looks nice on Sophie - is there a full length shot of her?

Maireas · 25/06/2024 22:32

I love the way that light catches real jewels. It's like they're on fire.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 25/06/2024 22:35

Yes the Queen has perfect tiara hair!

I used to think I wanted Catherine to have the Vladimir tiara (the emeralds would look so good against her hair) but I think I've changed my mind - it's too similar to the Lover's knot. Maybe she could have the oriental circlet. I wonder how many lesser known pieces are lurking in the shadowy corners of the Royal vault!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 26/06/2024 00:16

Evening @Maireas & everyone.

It's lovely to see all the tiaras & other bling on display.
I agree that the Burmese Ruby Tiara really suits Camilla. In fact I think she could carry off most of the big tiaras with her hair & face/head shape.
Sophie looks beautiful too.

I wonder how KC & EJ managed to keep cool in their morning suits today.
Did Charles have an ice pack under his top hat?

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 26/06/2024 09:09

Morning everyone! Looking at photos again I'm amazed at how nice the Burmese Ruby tiara looks when Camilla wears it! I never liked it on QEII. Also, I love diplomatic dressing - it was the perfect choice as from afar it echoes the Japanese flag so well.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 26/06/2024 09:40

(Feel a bit bad saying that, since the tiara was designed to QEII's taste and specifications)

I wish Queen Victoria's emerald tiara/parure was still in the Royal Collection - it would look beautiful on Catherine!

Sigh I'm happy to have finally seen some bling again (still annoyed about the coronation 😡😡).
