Please can you share some recommendations for the ones you have had for a while and they still grind sharp and well? Any budget. Thank you.

every one I buy is rubbish. So I can’t wait for reply’s

NotMeNoNo · 15/06/2024 18:45

Oxo good grips ones https://www.oxouk.com/products/salt-pepper-grinder-set/

Also they grind from the top so no worktop mess

GCAcademic · 15/06/2024 18:47

Avoid Le Creuset. Absolute shite, doesn’t grind the peppercorns at all. Have had two, thinking there was something wrong with the first but, no, it’s just the design.

I came on to recommend Le Creuset, then seen this post.

I don’t have any problems with mine, I really rate them.

Absolutely these. Had them years and they still work perfectly (& still confuse everyone who comes over as they work ‘upside down’).

EasterlyDirection · 15/06/2024 18:53

We've had Le Creuset for several years and they've been excellent.

Greenly3 · 15/06/2024 18:55

I bought two automatic ones from Amazon they come with a usb, you tip them up and they automatically dispense the salt and pepper. I love them I’ve had them two years and have only had to recharge them once. I wouldn’t be without them now.

CeliaCanth · 15/06/2024 19:01

Avoid Joseph Joseph, ours have looked stylish but been shite.

Moonshine5 · 15/06/2024 19:04

Embarrassingly I rate the electric Lidl salt and pepper mills.

Thank you! Was beginning to think it was just mine that were rubbish and unable to grind peppercorns.

We have a salt cellar from Cole and mason which was a wedding present 20 years ago. When it broke they replaced it free as it has a lifetime (!) guarantee. Annoyingly I didn’t realise this when the pepper grinder broke a few years before!

Gotta be Peugeot - if you look at the grinders on the table in loads of nice restaurants this is what they have. We’ve got a few sets and like them a lot.

Agree - Peugeot peppermills are brilliant. I’ve had mine for 35 years + & it’s as good as new.

keylimedog · 15/06/2024 19:23

I bought some from Rebecca Udall - they're brass so look beautiful and they work so well. I don't mind having them out because they look so good too!

LoobyDoop2 · 15/06/2024 19:23

Yeah, my Le Creuset salt grinder is fine, but the pepper one really isn’t great. I have a very traditional wooden one I got for about a fiver on Amazon that’s excellent though.

MidLifeWoman · 15/06/2024 19:27

Peugeot are the best, but OXO Good grips are absolutely fine, too. I really like that they are upside down - no mess.

ShyMaryEllen · 15/06/2024 19:43

I have Le Creuset, and they are great. They have a long guarantee, too. The saleswoman said that if they failed I could send them back no questions asked, and I didn't need to keep the receipt unless I was taking them back to the shop, as LC can recognise their own items and would refund or replace without one.

Bigredpants · 15/06/2024 19:44

Replaced mine recently.
the Peugeot look great but so £££££
Went with Cole and Mason. Found a good set from TK Maxx. All good. Perspex with stainless steel grips. Were about £25 I think.
Never ever buy electric (battery) ones !
Not sure of the point of salt grinders anyway. Just get a pepper grinder and whatever salt you want.

Houseplanter · 15/06/2024 19:47

The best I've had are the ones that you buy in the supermarkets ready filled with peppercorns. Schwartz or whatever. Cheap and cheerful, efficient but not pretty

OrangeBlossom28 · 15/06/2024 19:50

We have had these for years and they're great.

Well thank you very much @12BottlesOfVintageChampagne - I have now been on that site and ordered fifty quids worth of salt and pepper mills! 😠

buckeejit · 15/06/2024 20:12

I did a lot of research a few years ago & bought fb a Peugeot one. It's so shit. Very disappointed

gaggiagirl · 15/06/2024 20:17

I have Peugeot ones. They are beautiful and work amazingly and I believe there is a lifetime guarantee on the internal mechanics.
