Please can you share some recommendations for the ones you have had for a while and they still grind sharp and well? Any budget. Thank you.

I've tried lots but these are my current favourite and cheap at £5 each

I have aryhritic hands so like the idea of electronic/battery ones. But I've lost 3 in soup accidents (where bottom falls off as not secured properly) so have use the oxo ones. So my soups (in particular) are underseasoned.

I’ve had loads of rubbish ones in the past. Went to a specialist cookshop and was recommended tg CrushGrind. www.tg-woodware.com
I bought a posh wood set for the dinner table and a clear set for the kitchen. Brilliant. No central post in the middle where peppercorns get stuck. Dead easy to fill. Totally recommend.

Ah, but @namechangiosa - you will never need to buy one again 😁😉

I've had my Peugeot (a gift) for 25 years now and it still works perfectly.

Mason and Cole.

I've had these from Tala (the tall ones in red) for five years with no problems. Bought to replace a Peugeot set which stopped working after a month. Not only do they work well, but I love how they look

Sad to say but the best ones hands down are ikea.

UnimaginableWindBird · 16/06/2024 06:56

Mine are Peugeot but they don't work well at all, so kept on this thread looking for alternatives.

BiscuityBoyle · 16/06/2024 07:01

We were given a Cole and Mason set as a wedding present. Still going strong after 22 years. They are see through with a wooden top.

I’m not totally sure if that would work, but would a coffee hand grinder work more easily for you in place of a coffee mill? They tend to grind more quickly at least than a pepper grinder.

T&G. Customer service is fab. They last and last.

Look underneath - you need a metal parts. Peugeot supply the mechanism for some brands. As in everything you get what you pay for. Don’t buy Perspex, they split easily, and don’t think you have to go huge. Something that needs refilling regularly therefore your spice is fresher is preferable to some huge phallic item that you fill once a year.
